| Description: | Ever since I can remember, I’ve had the entrepreneurial spirit. Whether it was peddling arts & crafts from a homemade catalog or coming up with an idea for a slip n slide that could be installed on your driveway, I always had money-making ideas up my sleeve. Then the ideas just seemed to slip away from me as I got older and more focused on getting a “real job.” My first job after graduating from college was as a web developer for a large envelope manufacturing company. I slaved away there for over 5 years and learned quite a lot. Like working for a large company will drain the life out of you, turn you into a zombie, and take away all your free time. I also hated to leave my newly adopted Maltese dog home alone. I longed to work at home so that I could spend more time with Marley and give her the attention she deserved. On weekends I would spoil her by taking her out with me everywhere I went and dressing her up in adorable doggie apparel. This got me thinking about a business idea that would give me a closer relationship with my dog and quench my entrepreneurial thirst: Custom dog clothing and accessories. Kustom Kanine was born! On weekends I sweated away working on my plan for finally escaping the evil clutches of corporate America. At first I wanted to quit my job and jump headfirst into the small business world. Instead I found a small printing company to work for closer to home. Doing this freed up my time by cutting my commute from 2rs. to 15min. This gave me the time and energy needed to devote more time to creating my dream while still pulling in a full-time income. I soon launched the Kustom Kanine website by combining my web development and graphic design knowledge. Now all I needed was to get noticed, but I soon found out that marketing is not an easy thing, so here I am. |
