I would argue that Growth HAcking tactics make SEO more or less obsolete nowadays. Here's a great place to check out what I mean: http://growthhacker.tv/?src=joshfor

Have any of you read any books on the topic? Growth Hacker Marketing by Ryan Holiday also covers the topic really well!

the best seo technique is to create quality content that other people would want to share.

that will keep you safe from any google algo changes.

when you get that down then you can start looking for other ways such as social media sharing and PR .

I agree with you, Expert VA.  I think entrepreneurs are much better off writing fewer, but quality guest posts to high quality related sites. In addition to helping SEO, it can also help increase presence and establish yourself as an expert in your niche.  This is a much better use of time, than creating thousands of low quality links that could end up hurting you.

I don’ think focusing on SEO is a bad concept. Entrepreneurs need to invest in SEO, for online market reputation. However they need to have a good understanding about the SEO tips which are used by the SEO service provider. As following unethical SEO practices will create a bad impact to the website.

A lot of online entrepreneurs nowadays rely too much on SEO techniques, that it sometimes ends in excessive spamming and low quality content. I understand that SEO is a crucial part of Online Success but I don't think focusing on it too much is a good idea. It irritates me as well when a lot of dollar-per-hour people would comment links on blog posts without even posting useful words with it.

Anyway, my point is. I kinda want for all of us to be able to find the right clients and rank first on the right keywords without resorting to spamming.

I'm new here and I hope to find more insights and see a different view on how to promote  my business the natural way. It's hard to start a business if you do not know the basics of business management at first.

    Thanks! :)

Yes, site owners don't have any idea how much spam their site generates by hiring low-quality SEO consultants. The worse part is, they don't have any visibility as to what things these SEO guys say when blog commenting to get backlinks. It's good that Google finds smart ways to filter out spam links.

Welcome. Good points on SEO, with all the recent Google changes I see way too many people complaining their business is destroyed because they spent the last five years building SEO on spam comments and poor article sites, it's terrible business to rely entirely on one form of marketing, and even worse to try and cheat that resource.

    Hey guys,

we are Fabian and Ivan from Hamburg, Germany and try to realize our lifetime dream through Kickstarter (Crowd funding).

In fact we dislike self-promotion in terms of spam but in our current position there is no other possibility and otherwise we can bury our lifetime dream.

Our plan is to found a new fashion brand. Fashion means to us shoes, fragrances for him and her and headphones. Our marketing-concept is based on promotion through celebrities. In the past it was possible to us to get a good connection to popular people. There onto we want to open a store in Los Angeles, Hollywood to emphasize the elegance and exclusivity.

For our big plan we need 3.5Mio € to be competitive on the international market. In this cause we published our intentions on Kickstarter to get our project financed through crowd funding.

It would be awesome if you support us. Every euro brings us further and of course we have little considerations for you helping us.

We got after 12 hours almost 12.000€.

We thank you with all our heart and you can have a look at the following link:

    Best regards,

Good SEO practices are definitely much more than spamming blog posts. It's sad that such things destroy the whole image of SEO.

KirbyRaymond's comment from last year caught my eye where he said: "quality content that other people would want to share."

Interesting how this advice was posted a year ago....and now it's even MORE true today. In fact, last I heard was the most recent Panda was an entire infrastructure change to diminish importance of links over the next year and to dramatically increase serps based on proven share value. Used to be "content is king" but I guess now "sharing shines!"
