Bootstrapping

    The startup team I am co-founder of has been very successful at bootstrapping our way through the entire design and development process.  The 2 things we have done and I would recommend to others is:

    1. Network to meet new founding members that will work for the adventure of the startup dream 

    2. Read tons of books to become experts in the necessary fields.  This reduces costs by cutting out hiring a professional.  On multiple occasions we have been quoted for $80,000 worth of work that we eventually taught ourselves how to do for FREE.

     

    I want to hear what you guys have to say about reducing costs and bootstraping?!

    I think there is a limit to how much a startup can bootstrap.  At some point, you are spending too much time thinking of ways of cutting costs, and not enough time selling your product or service.  Plus, if you sold more of your product or service, you could afford more.  It is good to know how to bootstrap, it is also very necessary to know how to increase your revenue.
