What is the most important part of a business plan?  I have all of the basics...exec summary, start up costs, monthly expenses and 36 month projected resume etc. it's a service with a retail space, so most of the financial spreadsheets don't fit?

The most important part of a business is planning the time frames that will be required for bringing the business to a level where it is completely independent. Taking all the risk factors into consideration is also important. This will help you in moving forward.

My opinion.....solid basis for growth pattern assumptions in the Financials, and the resulting cash flow. Everyone clings to optimism with no reason behind it.

A basic Business Plan for a small business should contain, at a bare minimum:

An executive summary. Define the business.

Strategic Plan. What actions does the business plan to take?

Financial outlook.  The parts that most people are afraid to prepare – how profitable does this business expect to be in the future, and can it sustain and grow? What is the business worth?
