Payroll Question

Has anyone had any experience with ADP or any other type of payroll services that they would recommend? Which do you prefer - the electronic service or the traditional personal accountant to handle the payroll?

Thanks Monica. How do you find your accounting process? Is it efficient or do you experience any problems?

You may want to check out QuickBooks or PeachTree.   There are many reviews and comparisons online.

I started a new independent consultant business in Feb 2012 and just went through an exhaustive search.  For my company, QuickBooks Online Plus will work well.  I travel a lot and need to access the accounting system online to enter hours worked, etc.

    Best to you!

I have not personally used ADP but they are a reptuable payroll compay,
I do payroll in house using Peachtree Accounting.
    Quickbooks also offers Payroll services.
It just depends on the amount of employees you have and the accounting software you are using.
    Warm Regards,
    Monica

If it is a small payroll, the fees for ADP or Paychex providers may not make sense.  So look at the size of the enterprise and then make your decision.  Just know that at the end of the day you are still responsible to the feds and state authorities for your payroll related taxes.  So don`t assume the service is doing it right, CHECK.

I`ve had experience with ADP and Paychex both, along with several other systems.  My preference is to do it in-house using Quickbooks Pro.

My clients have also had their own experiences with outsourcing to ADP and Paychex but they weren`t very good experiences.  They brought their payroll to me and I was able to get everything straightened out so that everyone`s happy.

Most of the problems with the other providers have been tax-related with regards to over-reporting and under-reporting and can take awhile to straighten out.

I`m not putting down the other sources at all.  For the most part, they function well.  Each business requires a payroll service that fits their needs so it`s best to check them all.

    Good luck to you.

I`ve really liked Paycycle.   I used it first for a nanny and now for my 10+ person company.  Integrates well with Quickbooks.
