In the process of looking into getting a patent. I do have a question though... I have a general design, and very rough prototype that I made. Would there be any issues in having a mechanical engineer design the product using CAD / 3D software, giving some advice and suggestions, fixes, BEFORE getting a patent? Even if I have them sign a Non Disclosure Agreement?

Also, any suggestion on US manufacturing the product, or Chinese? Thanks!

Having them sign an NDA is the first step. I also suggest that you file provisional patent as soon as you can describe your product, explain how to develop it and how to use it. Provisional patent application before anyone else does will give you superior rights in the patent filing.
