Feedback on my website

Arun gave me some great suggestions. Would anyone else do the same?
Widening my pages concerns me a bit since I have only two choices, 780px or go to 100%.
Would this mess up my text and picture display depending on screen resolution?
    Could you please review www.whineranddiner.net
    thanks,

just tried that and got "sorry, this document cannot be checked". Oh well, I`m just a novice at website building here so I`m not quite sure what I am doing...

Oh my God, I just saw my home page in Firefox! That`s pretty scary...all those lines, where is this coming from? and it`s only on the home page... and the layout is totally out of wack!

I did see the site and fixed it as much as I could.
I also relocated the Slideshow as an option and put the "before and after pictures" (your nutshell), on the home page. Check it out if you`d like.
Thank you so much for your help and suggestions!

The days when Internet Explorer controlled 95% of the browser marketshare is long gone, and these days a website is never finished unless you`ve done an extensive broswer testing.

Browsershots.org is a free service that allows you to test your website in various operating systems and browser combinations.

Just submit your website, and wait for your screensots in 5-10 minutes time.

I take it you made this in/for Internet Explorer; in Firefox the layout is messed up. Fix that and you would be much better off.

I don`t think it is all of your pages, but the main one is definitely out of whack in Firefox. More than likely it would take some tweaking in your css file(s) to correct it, or a separate css file for Firefox.

Also, was this site built with a site building program? You might want to look at your sites validation at W3C ....

Different browsers will read your html and css and render them differently; not all browsers follow the same standards/guidelines, therefore the differences. Sometimes you may need separate css files for different browsers, or " if " sections into one css file ( if thats where many of the problems are created ).

The lines are because you specify a background color behind the various text.

Sometimes you specify white (#ffffff) but sometimes another color (#bf8300).

Well, I`ve only joined today, so maybe I`m not the best person to comment, but I notice that the slide show at the beginning takes a while to load.

You`ve got two pictures in the "history" page that pretty much explain the product in a nutshell, and they take no time at all to load up. Perhaps you could have the slide show as an optional?

    Just my 2c worth...

Well, Firefox is more of a stickler for HTML correctness than Internet Explorer. If something looks alright in Firefox, it will look ok in Opera and (9 times out of ten), in Internet Explorer.
One thing you can do is simply download Firefox, and then look at the site in Firefox and tweak whatever you have to.
