The practice of reading books has undergone sea change in the way we access and read books over the last few years. Earlier, there were just school, college and public libraries. You had to pay a membership fee and a deposit amount as a security for the books you took on rent. To buy a book, one had to search a dozen shops. All this is history now, with the advent of online libraries and book stores. When you want to read a book, all you have to do is search it online and you will get a number of sources from where you can buy it or even take it on rent. The phenomenon of online libraries is not completely new; they were in vogue even a decade back. But, their popularity has certainly grown over the years. The books that are offered through online libraries can be taken on rent simply by registering with the site as a user and paying a deposit fee. The books are delivered to you, so you do not have to go to a library to collect it. If you do not complete a book within a week, just extend the period for which you wish to keep it, without paying any penalty. When you are done with the book, just update your account and the book will be collected. Though the services of online libraries are limited in India as of now, and are available in only a few cities, the trend is fast catching up.
