Over the course of his career, Dr. James Freije has been active on a number of committees. During 2001 and 2002, he served on the Editorial Board for the Guthrie Journal. From 2006 until 2009, Dr. Freije sat on the Guthrie Clinic’s Board of Directors. In 2011, he was elected to serve as a Physician Member of the Mount Nittany Health System Board. Currently, Dr. Freije sits on the Pennsylvania Medical Society Committee for Physician’s Health, as well as the Cancer Committee at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, for which he serves as a Cancer Liaison Representative.

Dr. James Freije holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Villanova University, which he obtained with summa cum laude honors. He then matriculated at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University, where he earned his medical degree. This was followed by an Internship in General Surgery at Fletcher Allen in Burlington, Vermont, where he also performed his Residency in Otolaryngology. Dr. Freije went on to complete a Fellowship in advanced head and neck surgery through the University of Cincinnati Academic Health Center. Dr. James Freije furthered his education in 2001, when he received his Master of Public Health through the SUNY at Albany.
