Speaking of coffee ... what`s your favorite coffee?
I`ve been drinking a mixture of Starbucks Cafe Verona regular and decaf. Now that I work at home (yeaahhh!), I drink more coffee than I did when I was working but I don`t want to stay up all night, so I mix them.
When we lived in Ohio (just moved to Tennessee) I bought some fresh-roasted coffee from a place called Blue Heron (you can find them on the internet), but shipping costs more than I want to pay right now, so I settled on Starbucks.
What`s your favorite?
When taking breaks from having tea, I do stop by Starbucks and get my single shot mocha in grande, lots of whip, extra hot.
I would love to stay and duke it out, but there has been lots and lots of research lately that says coffee is actually good for you.
By the way, if you are concerned about trans fats, Starbucks announced today that they are going trans-fat free to help our hearts. Isn`t that great?!
I hope it still tastes the same.
I have to admit...I am a Starbucks addict...it is sad. Quad Venti Iced Vanilla Latte (depending on how I am feeling, it may increase in shot quantity to a six shot). Yep...complete coffeeholic...and Starbucks is my preferred...although...I have to admit...Seattle`s Best is a truly lovely coffee as well if I am too terribly far from a Starbucks (which is highly unlikely here in the Portland area). There is also a local place here called Coyote Joe`s that makes a fantastic espresso!
I have to admit though...when I smoked (which I haven`t done for about a year now) I LOVED that first cig and cup of coffee in the morning...it was my favorite cigarette and cup all day!
PJs Coffee of New Orleans - excellent coffee! Not everywhere ... yet!
Personally, I brew Community Club Coffee, day in and day out. Best damn everyday coffee around. Order some and try it if your local store doesn`t carry it.

If I hadn`t read some of Craig`s other posts, I would wonder if I really had offended him. However, now I know that since I didn`t include any coffees that start with the letter "H," he might be offended but I didn`t do anything to further scar him emotionally or psychologically.
I am surprised, however, that there are not more people who are Dunkin` Donuts coffee fans. The news shows that they are becoming a pretty decent competitor with Starbucks - and a fraction of the cost.
Although I don`t know why I`m surprised. Come to think of it, I haven`t tried Dunkin` Donuts coffee myself.

mmmmmm! Coffee, yum! I am all for supporting the small coffee houses..but at Christmas time I love the StarBucks peppermint Mocha.
I thought that I knew coffee until I watched a great show on the History Channel about coffee..I think that it was modern marvels?
Anyway...it made me want to go out and have some "real" coffee. I met a woman that sells coffee direct from Africa...free-trade (which I love) but I haven`t bought her coffee yet. If anyone is interested I will look for her card and post her website. It is supposedly the best coffee you will ever drink. I need to have some of my cheap coffee to wake up enough to find the card!

Laura,
That is really funny..I just watched that same episode of Modern Marvels and I too was amazed at how little I knew about coffee...and here I had worked in coffee houses all through college! Shame on me!!!
I was at a expo over the holiday season and there was quite a few local coffee sellers...and one (which I really should find her card) who is out on the Oregon Coast...her espresso was just divine! She didn`t have it brewed but the grounds were soooo smooth. Unfortunately...I have only had one cup of joe this morning and I can not think of what her company was called but she too used free trade to get the best of the best for her customers! Man...I really need to find that card!!!

First of all, can we give Leah/SolidGrnd a title of Ms Eoticon? She always comes up with the coolest icons!
CraigL - I am a tea drinker, especially when my parents are visiting. This comes from generation after generation as when my grandparents were still around, I remember my only task was to make tea for them, 24/7!! Tea in the morning, tea at 10am. More tea for lunch and of course tea after lunch. Then they want more tea after they`re up from the nap. I almost gave my grandfather a heart attack as I asked him if he would like a cup of coffee instead when I discovered it myself.
After spending some time in England during college, I really like to drink breakfast tea with milk. It`s like my `comfort drink` these days.
Has any of you tried your coffee or tea with condensed milk? It`s so yummy.
mmm...we don`t have Caribou here but I aways hit it when I fly back East...and they always give me a free chocolate covered coffee bean. Nice!
Laura,
That is really funny..I just watched that same episode of Modern Marvels
I am a closet Modern Marvels addict. The other night I watched 3 in a row! Candy, coffee and spirits.
I found the card!
Ola`s Exotic Coffee & Tea
I have nothing to do with the business just loved the concept. and the coffee sounded great. I will order some and report back.
Laura
I have always said the Columbians could bring this country to its knees in a week, just cut off our coffee supply. Business would grind to a halt! Pun intended.
I use Maxwell House (the pencil shavings) most of the time, if I have the good stuff it is Brother`s Gourmet Foglifter at home.
Starbucks is always a winner, but as a financial & tax advisor it is tuff to allow the cost. So the Peppermint Mocha wins my vote at the holidays. However I use their stores as a office away from the office with the TMobile connection, so it all works.
Craig, I also have herbal teas in the evenings and when I am in the mood. Way to hit one for the Tea drinkers....

It might have been...I really need to go home and find the card...I even picked up one of the brochures so I could convince my office to try the coffee (engineers drink coffee as opposed to water). I am really having the hardest time today getting my brain to focus on anything except what is directly in front of my face! Must need more coffee...Starbucks run seems to be in order!

Okay...sooooo funny...we must have been watching the same thing!!! I actually insisted, after watching half of the candy one at my MIL`s, that we make it home in time for me to watch the entire coffee one without interruption! I have seen the spirits one or I would`ve continued watching...as it were...I would`ve missed an episode of Star Trek Voyager (and yes...I know I am a complete nerd)!
(that was for Meitzi)
Doesn`t sound like the British are coming, does it? Just 2 tea drinkers won`t put a dent in our little coffee clatch, but we do respect your right to try.
This was a fun way for a newbie to get to know some folks. Thanks for your posts and comments.
I`ve got my Starbucks Cafe Verona at my side this morning and will find some decaf at some little coffee house in Knoxville as I run errands this afternoon.
I just love working from home! I also loved the little emoticon of the smiley drinking coffee. That made me laugh.
Have a great Friday!
P.S. When I moved down south from Ohio I had great plans to sit on the front porch and drink sweet tea with my neigbors, but after a few days I decided against having too much. Do you know how much sugar is in a single glass of really good sweet tea? No wonder it tastes so good!
Thanks for counting me in! Kathy drinks tea, too .. so does Rich, if I remember correctly. He`s a green tea drinker.
Sounds like SuN will be divided into two `political` parties - tea drinkers and coffee drinkers.
This was a fun way for a newbie to get to know some folks. Thanks for your posts and comments.
Cjeeps - you have no idea how crazy we can get here at SuN ... be aware, the addiction to SuN Forums sometimes can be worst than tea/coffee addictions. (CraigL, notice I put tea before coffee here?)
Hey, imagine when I open the restaurant, instead of asking people "smoking or non-smoking", I say, "coffee or tea after dinner?" so we can have all the tea drinkers on one side of the restaurant and coffee drinkers on the other side. Pretty neat, huh?
I start talking non-sense when I have too much free time ... time to look for a full time job ... soon ...
Wow! Is CraigL the first entrepreneur who wants to run a state instead of just a business?!?!
If I were you, I`ll start learning some asian languages as I can forsee many asians will LOVE to move to the State of Tea!! Then I`d strongly suggest that private owned cars are discouraged but only public transporation (you`ll know what I mean if you have lived in San Francisco or L.A.) ... state of Montana will then be a state of paradise!!
Kathy,
I have one of those jars too...I make sun tea every summer...and that is really the only time my ice tea tastes the way it should. Unfortunately, Oregon doesn`t get that much sun...so I am limited in my ability to make GOOD sweet tea to only a few months in the summer. Ahhh...but man is it good!!!! I wake in the morning...throw tea bags in the jar with some water...sit it in the morning sun on the porch...and by lunch it is perfect!
State of Tea...hmmm....interesting idea! No coffee...maybe I can just live NEAR the State of Tea and that way I can visit!

News flash, CraigL!!
Principality of Sealand is out for sale!! It`s located right next to England. Buy it, CraigL and turn it into world`s first Tea Country. It`s right next to the Brits so I think you`ll get tons of support on that!!
Speaking of Thailand ... I often find it amusing how many people are confused between Taiwan and Thailand. You have no idea how many people would ask me if I speak Thai after I tell them I am from Taiwan. About a bit over 10 years ago, while I was a teacher, I came to the states to meet with one of the school directors in the east coast. I was speechless when she handed me a Thai doll and said, "I thought you`d appreciate to see a doll of your own country." Maybe she meant made in my country.
Hey, Tealand does sound better than Sealand. I am totally with you on the UK`s awful taxation!!

But then you would miss out on tasting it! mmmm! nothing like a good cup of coffee.
I wonder if Tealand could come up with a tea that tasted like coffee and had the same punch! Maybe then we wouldn`t be so against it!?
sway...I am with you...IV me please...if it were up to me though...I would just have an IV of caffeine mixed with regular IV solution (that way I get some fluid for the body since coffee is a diuretic) and that would allow me the pleasure of being able to taste the coffee whenever I felt the need and still get me the caffeine I needed to stay awake and alert long enough to get something done! Best of both worlds there!!! Ahhhh...and IV of coffee...that would be great!!!
talk about morning coffee here ...
I just dropped my little one off at school and I was talking to other parents about one of my "I-have-too-much-time-to-kill" observations:
Each morning all the kindergartners and their parents form two lines right outside of the class. Kids in one and parents in the other. We have to wait until the teacher comes out to take the kids to the classroom. Most of the parents would have coffee in their hands but could barely talk right whilst the kids` line, no coffee, loud voices and way too much of energy!
Maybe we should have what they are having??

Coffee IV - now that`s market right there!!! Leah, you`re too funny!!
Who knows when the repair man will be here!!!! DOESN`T HE KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS!!!!??? I am so upset! I just talked to the Office Manager though...and we are talking about going to Starbucks for a couple boxes of coffee to hold us over until the repair guy gets here!!
SolidGrnd - I can definitely relate to the broken coffee maker problem. When our office coffee maker broke a few years ago, I volunteered to go to the store to buy the replacement maker. Didn`t want to take a chance on letting the non-coffee-drinking person in charge of equipment take her sweet time getting it replaced.
We also had to come up with an emergency plan to replace all computers, software, office furniture, etc. in case of a natural disaster. I told them I thought the first thing we should buy is coffee makers. Can you imagine trying to work through the aftermath of a natural disaster without coffee??
I`ve been relegated to instant coffee. While my wife doesn`t say it (she`s that nice), I`m a bit of a kitchen slob. I`m the only person I know who can dirty three cups, four plates, a pound of silverware, in addition to a couple pots and pans, in an attempt to make a single cup of coffee.
That is hilarious! That is EXACTLY why my husband bought me a coffee pod machine...two little pods...and some water in the already provided jug area-thingy...hit ONE button and TA-DA...60 seconds later I have 20 oz. of PURE BLISS!!! No major clean up required...no major mess...I have a tupperware thing that holds the pods so I don`t worry about them going stale in the baggy-thingy they come in! My mom got one of the new-fangled ones that require the little cups of sauce or whatever the heck they are! She says her`s is cooler than mine...but I think she is just jealous!
(Craig...you can not and will not hijack this thread with your tea discussions anymore!! HA HA HA!!!)
Ahhh...the power of caffeine!!!Those in Michigan might recognize that. This is the most popular coffee in these parts. We have over 55 locations in my city (which is at about a million pop right now). Even the small town I grew up in (10,000 pop) has one of these. If you`ve been to Canada you`ve seen one, I`m sure! Lines are long! Our area is the fastest growing economy in North America, so as population increases line ups get longer. I no longer stop at "Timmy`s" (Tim Hortons Coffee shop) on the way to work, because in all seriousness you can wait upwards of 25 minutes in a line up. Thats inside or in the drive through. Too many people, mixed with staff shortages make for long lines....
Funny story about Tim Horton`s. We were visiting the in-laws in Upstate NY (from California--no Tim Hortons here) and there is a Tim Horton`s about every 5 miles...and all with huge lines...day and night. I didn`t realize that it was THE place to get coffee...For those that don`t know it`s called Tim Horton`s Donuts. and I thought to myself "My gosh...how many donuts can these people eat??!!" I could not believe the lines to buy donuts!
There was a thread a while back where he posted a poll to see how much coffee people drank on a daily basis...he was even noted in one of the Community Newsletters...check it out...
Brian...the old fashion plain donut is the ONLY good donut ever made!!! Have you tried the apple cider donuts! OH MAN...a little bit o` heaven there!!! They are basically old fashion donuts with just the HINT of apple cider! MAN O MAN O!!! SOOO GOOD!!!
cj - yeah...well...if you figure it in ounces...it doesn`t sound AS bad! I think it was figured on an 8 oz. cup though...or something like that...it is in the old thread I think somewhere!
It is a sad day for me!
I will be having to give up anything that has caffeine in it until such time as I am fully healed! I have found that I have an ulcer...and so coffe and tea (unless herbal...which honestly does not sound very appetizing at the moment)...HAS TO GO!!! I am sooooooo sad!! I am just not sure what to do without my morning coffee! WIsh me luck...it is going to take some serious effort to make it through withdrawls! UGH!!!
Supposedly...I should have relief in about 4-8 weeks....so I will see you all then!!
Leah - I am so sorry to hear that!! Health comes before everything so take a good care of yourself first. Start a new post called "Days without Coffee" and vent your caffeine attack there! We`ll support you!! (I am kidding!)
If you add some honey to the herbal tea, it won`t taste as bad as you think.
Actually, it is bacterial...and that is the case for (research done so far) only 80-90% of all ulcer patients. (Lest we forget, Leah is a internet/medical research guru. HAHAHA
)
Yes...the fact of the matter is...IF my tests come back that it is bacterial...I will be well on my way to drinking coffee again in approximately 8-10 weeks. UNFORTUNATELY...until that time...the PAIN of drinking coffee well outweighs the actual enjoyment of the flavor and caffeine effects. And I might add...CAFFEINE WITHDRAWAL SUCKS! That aside...my hopes are that this is truly the bacterial kind...and I will simply have to watch what I eat and drink for a mere 8-10 weeks until my stomach heals and then COFFEE HERE I COME!!!!!! Please keep your fingers crossed and warm thoughts direct this way as I wait for my test results! I am REALLY hoping I don`t have to be coffee free for too long...I gotta tell ya`...it is REALLY hard!!! The smell of it brewing in the kitchen is just murder!!!
I will be thinking of you all though...have a cup for me...please!
It really is a toss up at this point! It all comes down to pain tolerance though! And insanity level!
