| Description: | Owning my own business has been a life-long dream of mine since before I can remember. I never imagined that two years ago after establishing Adorable Baby Cakes as an online home-based business, that I would actually be opening the doors to a store in my hometown. After being laid off from the retail industry and being a single mom of 4 children, unemployment was just not cutting it. So I decided to see if I could expand my online business by participating in local baby fairs in Boston and the surrounding areas. Unfortunately, things did not proceed as I would have liked, but months later I passed a store that was a dream come true. After a month and half of hard work renovating the store, my dream became a reality and, Adorable Baby Cakes has found a new home at 181 West Main St. in Norton.. I have lived in Norton for 12 years and have raised my family here. We have all reaped the benefits of living in a safe and friendly town. My kids have participated in local team sports and school sports. I feel lucky to have the opportunity to be able to give back to my community by sharing my talents with the public. My store is a birthing of an old but unique idea. Custom designer diaper cakes are a unique gift to give parents-to-be at baby showers. My first diaper cake was made for my first granddaughter. I wanted to make something special and unique just for her, so I put everything a baby could need into one beautiful package – a diaper cake. Diaper cakes are made of diapers and an assortment of baby necessities. These include clothing, bibs, booties, washcloths, bottles and toys and other baby related products. My family and friends have encouraged me to expand on the idea by creating many new themes for my cakes such as teddy bears, ducks, puppies and children’s classic movies. This led to friends and neighbors asking if I could create cakes for their newborns and or grandchildren. Of course this triggered off many new ideas – sports themes and 1st birthday cakes using pull-ups instead of diapers. It seemed that there was no end to the ideas that could be created with just a little imagination. So as of this month I opened my store to share my dream with everyone that wants to give a unique gift to a new baby that is waiting to be born. Bringing smiles to new parents warms my heart. I’m glad that today I can share my talent with others because this is something that I love to do. The compliments and testimonials that I have received from my customers are very special to me. It motivates me to keep creating and using my imagination. It’s my goal to be able to provide my customers with a uniqueness to gift giving.
