My spirituality defines who I am and what my place is within the world. My spirituality is the guiding force in my life. It influences my decisions, supervises my behaviors, monitors my communication and keeps me humble. It allows me to accept the people around me and the circumstances in which I find myself, rather than trying to adjust them to suit my desires. I am a native of New York. My distinctiveness as a native New Yorker defines my character, my attitude, my persona, and the way I interact with people. It protects me from harm and infuses my need for risk taking. It also drives my creativity, initiative and proactive nature. It enables me to be assertive, yet tactful. It enables me to handle stress, multitask and interact with people of different backgrounds and cultures. Being a native New Yorker has prepared me for the unexpected trials and tribulations encountered on a daily basis. These three traits combined make me the person that I am today. There have been some other variables that contributed, but being a woman, a spiritual entity and coming from New York heavily influenced my cultural identity. |
