Description
Headline:I`m the Engineer of Creative Identity and an author
Description:Jeff Fisher, the Engineer of Creative Identity for Jeff Fisher LogoMotives, has been helping businesses and organizations stay on track through unique identity design solutions for nearly 30 years. He has received over 500 regional, national and international graphic design awards for his logo and corporate identity efforts. His work is featured in more than 80 publications on the design of logos, the business of graphic design, and small business marketing.

He shares his observations about the design industry on his blog, bLog-oMotives and in his "<a href=www.creativelatitude.com/logo_notions/index.html>;Logo Notions</a>" column on CreativeLatitude.com. In addition, Fisher has written for publications such as "HOW Magazine," "Designer" (the publication of the University & College Designers Association), the ASMP Bulletin and others. His first book, <i><a href=astore.amazon.com/jefffisherlog-20/detail/1581804806/104-1628624-6081536>;The Savvy Designer`s Guide to Success</a></i>, was released by HOW Design Books in late 2004. His new book, <i><a href=astore.amazon.com/jefffisherlog-20/detail/1581809395/104-1628624-6081536>;Identity Crisis!</a></i>, will be released in 2007.

The designer and author also speaks on a regular basis, about the design profession and small business marketing, to high school classes, college students, small business networking groups and international design industry events.

Fisher is a member of the HOW Magazine Editorial Advisory Board, the HOW Design Conference Advisory Council and the board of directors of Proscodi: Professional Society of Communication Design.

Known for being a bit irreverent when it comes to business and design, Fisher has addressed a major international conference in a state of undress and gives door-prizes (such as "hello kitty" art supplies) to those asking questions at speaking engagements. Unable to keep most words from pouring out of his mouth unchecked, some past "Jeffisms," quoted repeatedly by design industry peers, include:

<i>"It`s not that I don`t play well with others; it`s just that I want to choose where, when and with whom I play."</i>

<i>"It`s better to be a smart-ass than a dumb-ass."</i>

<i>“‘Freelance’ is a nasty little word. It seems to imply an individual doesn’t have a ‘real’ job, can’t get a job, isn’t truly professional in their field, and is willing to work for ‘free.’”</i>

<i>"To err is human; to create something positive from the situation is design."</i>

<i>"The only thing worse than a potential client who does not value the efforts of a professional graphic designer, is a designer who doesn`t appreciate the value of their own time and work.”</i>

He works from his home studio in Portland, Oregon - where he lives with his partner of 16 years, Ed Cunningham.
