Consuming raw foods is based on the belief that the most healthful food for the body is uncooked. Although a lot of food is eaten raw, heating food is acceptable as long as the temperature does not go too high. Cooking with high heat is thought to denature the enzymes naturally present in food and lower the food value being consumed. What are the Benefits of a Raw Food like Mila™? People who consume a raw food or use a raw food diet believe it has numerous health benefits, including: Increased energy Clearer skin Weight loss Reduced risk of disease Raw foods generally contain fewer trans-fats and saturated fats than the typical diet. They are also low in sodium and sugar and high in potassium, fiber, some vitamins, and health-promoting antioxidants (depending on the raw food). Raw foods are many of the daily items we all eat: fruit, vegetables, grains, etc. The properties associated with eating raw foods include a reduced risk of diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. For example, a study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that consumption of raw foods lowered plasma total cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations. Raw foods take very little preparation and generally have more flavor than cooked foods.
