    I will be writing a paper on the value of networking events with another colleague of mine. We need some research by way of a poll. In fact, this will be one of several polls that I will be creating.

    The question is;
    "What is the usual amount of money that you spend on attending a networking event?"

    Obviously, it differs from event to event, but just take what you usually spend on a monthly basis and average it out and that will be your answer for this poll. Please be honest in your answers.

    Well, there`s several factors in this ...

    one is the amount I spend per event. And that`s like $20 for a luncheon up to $50-60 for a large event or $80-100 for fancy dinner. (I don`t go to the fancy dinner things, though.)

    And then there`s the cost of joining these groups. For one of them, I paid $290 up front and then $16 a month. For my alumni group, I have a low annual fee.

    The question is;
    "If you are given the choice to attend either a morning networking event (ie; Breakfast Event) or an evening mixer(ie; After Hours Mixer), which would be your primary choice?"

    Please note that you can only  pick one. Having said that, please feel free to elaborate or include any additional comments in your reply. Thanks.

    I am actually of the opinion that both of these are bad.

    I`m a fan of the lunchtime networking ... this is the type of event I attend most now.

    I would say this also depends on what type of group you are going for. If it`s a bunch of young singles, go for evening. If it`s a more established crowd ... I agree with James, evening is time for family unless it`s some rare/special occasion (annual event, holiday get-together, etc).
    For regular - weekly, monthly - meetings, I say nooner!

    I`m more of an evening person.  I won`t go to too terribly many as I agree with p.p. that friends and family are normally for evenings, but I do my best work at night. 1 evening networking session when I`m "on" is more effective for me then 4 bags under my eyes, where`s the coffee, so how is the weather, morning sessions.

    Damn. I just noticed that SUN`s polling feature is horrible. It doesn`t allow me to count the number of votes but only percentage. This is horrible. Bleah.
