| Description: | At this point it’s more of a hobby or sideline, but have been putting in quite a bit of time trying to get a website going…to make it a profit center. Trying not to be discouraged by statistics like the one I read recently that stated nearly 80% of the web-site entrepreneurial efforts fail. That was a bummer to read. . .however, I have certainly learned a great deal along this path, and find I’m enjoying it, but would surely like to make some money doing it. It’s true; we haven’t found the secret to a financially successful site yet, but certainly going to give it a high degree of effort, before we give up. I’m starting to believe, we’ve gone about it backwards. I now think that the first thing a new web-based entrepreneur needs to do is. . ..dive-in; learn all they can…..to get an education of; and keeping on top of, the in-depth, multi-faceted world of Google Analytics, Yahoo, MSN, and the rest of these guys! Knowing a bunch about all the ends and outs of developing a Google friendly site; learning how to hype up your search engine optimization full blast, before you kick off your new site. In retrospect, that seems to be the place to start. Oh my! The wisdom of hindsight! Or, maybe I’ve given new meaning to the old expression, “Which came first the Chicken or the Egg?”, but it’s something to think about! Just seems to be better than building and kicking off a site…..without a clue how people are going to find it. Always open to any words of wisdom on the subject? |
