How to Improve Your SEO Rankings

*         1 votes

The birds are singing. The flowers are blooming, and Google is probably updating their search engine systems again.

In a past update (http://on.wsj.com/AorvqW), Google incorporated “semantic search,” looking at the meaning of words… so how does this change your SEO processes?

Well, if you haven’t been writing quality content and just posting as many search engine optimization (SEO) keywords as possible, the search engine results for your site will change dramatically… for the worse.

Now, it’s more important than ever to provide your site visitors with valuable information first, and keywords second. To do this, follow these simple guidelines:

  • Write articles that are at least 250 words so that the search engines can find them;
  • Add your SEO keywords to the title, sub-title and internal links within the article; and most important,
  • Figure out what kind of content your audience wants and provide it!

Don’t Worry About Search Engine Updates.

Google and the other search engines will always be changing in order to improve their services and stay ahead of the competition. Instead of worrying about the next update and how it will change your search rankings, concentrate on providing valuable information to your customers relevant to your SEO keywords.

If you give your audience good content, answer their questions and offer them something to share with others, you’ll increase sales and word-of-mouth. And at the same time, you’ll probably increase your SEO rankings. Now that’s good SEO!

    I’m always looking for the best source of information, and ran across this story. I agree that we should not worry about the next update, cant do anything to stop them, so why worry. However, it would be nice to see a more in depth story on how the true small business owner (one person or two)can effectively manage their website when they might not know how to do anything and can’t afford to pay the Large Fees for a “expert”.

    Case in point: If I check Google about my links and where i have them, they show up. I go to another site and they tell me everything is wrong with no back links. Makes the honest person annoyed and unsure of next steps.

    I certainly agree with your statement. Search engines will increasingly try to make it more difficult for solely SEO targeted websites to move up the ranks. On the other hand, startups need to compete on many levels in order to get one step ahead of the competition. Do you think quality content on itself is enough to drive traffic through this specific channel?

    It seems to me that good search engine ranking is more than just good content and all of the above you’ve mentioned.
    It is a lot about quantity of linking and pages in the site too. Also, it is really hard to rank high unless you hire someone to do that full time.

    Again some nothing from “Big Expert”. Startup again got no content for the site. My be ask some one who might actually share some real info. Well what I’m toking who is going to share some real info. Anyway “Big Expert” is a joke.

    Okay, so Tar seems like a disgruntled reader, haha.

    Anyway, Thanks for the article. I have been getting pinged lately, and it seems like it gets “worse” everytime google makes a change… and I like to believe I provide quality content, or I spend time making sure I provide the information I advertise. I am going to focus on the 250 word article and hopefully this is what is missing, because I do admit I don’t spend a whole lot of time on the written content side of things (since my site is based on offering calculators).
