Are Your SEO And PR Results Scary?

Happy Halloween!

Have you added search engine optimization (SEO) keywords to your site but aren’t seeing results?
Did you send out a press release to hundreds of reporters without receive one phone call?
Are you ready to “throw in the towel”?

This may be scary stuff, but don’t stop now!

While you may think you have done what it takes to get noticed by customers and media members, think again.

Today, you must do the work necessary to see results. While it may be tedious to conduct SEO keyword research, create the appropriate tags and develop a unique pitch for reporters, there are no shortcuts. The work must be done… so instead of complaining, take action!

Here are three things you can do right now to change your SEO and Public Relations results:

1. Check your Site Content.

Is your Website all about keywords and search engines? If so, you may have forgotten about the main reason you have an Internet presence in the first place… to provide information to potential and current customers!
Instead of focusing on your SEO keywords, think about the content. What do your customers want? How can your products and services benefit them?

Write for your customers first, and then sprinkle in your keywords.

2. Prepare a Specific Pitch.

Ok…. so if you received a press release that had nothing to do with your audience and knew that hundreds of other reporters received the exact same e-mail, would you read it or hit “delete”?

Just like point-one above, you need to think about your audience.

Instead of sending the same press release out to hundreds of reporters and waiting for a response, take the time to develop one, specific story for a targeted media-member. Then, call that reporter on the phone and give your pitch.

This takes a lot of time and effort, but you’ll have a much better chance of getting press this way then sitting back and waiting for the phone to ring.

3. Take That Extra Step.

Have you really done everything you possibly can to increase the value on your site with SEO and provide interesting information to media members?

There is always one more thing you can do… so even if you want to go to lunch or call it a day, take just a few more minutes and do a little more work.

You may find that this little bit of extra effort will change your results for the better.

It’s work. That’s why they call it work.

Today, there is a lot of competition to capture the attention of your customers and the media. And you need to do everything possible to get the results you want. It’s not easy.

And sometimes, you may work really hard and see dismal results. When this happens, start over and see what you can do to change the situation.

Yes, it’s frustrating.
Yes, it takes a lot of time and effort.

But the good news is that you’ll learn from your failures and increase your skills.

The bad news is, if you give up too quickly and aren’t willing to make that extra effort, you can bet you’ll lose business to the competition… so please keep going. Success is around the corner!

Yes! Following up on your Press Releases with a phone call is so important. I’m surprised that so many people just immediately expect to hear back. Often when I speak to my contact they’ve only barely scanned through what I sent them and say they will take a better look over it after the call. With so many things you can now get done online, I think we often forget that there’s still people on the other end getting the work done.

That being said, I guess I still need to work on number 2, because my specific pitches didn’t go so well this October. Anyone want to hear more about http://directincorporation.com ’s CEO and his success as an entrepreneur?
