Do you have any specifics regarding SEO tactics that Inkhead actually employed. I understand they found SEO more affordable than PPC, and I appreciate the article, but I'd love more details on what they did to grow their traffic.

Thanks for your nice comments Gabriel. PPC can really help a business get noticed online... but it needs to be done correctly with the right SEO keywords and appropriate landing pages. Plus, it needs to be monitored and tested. Otherwise, you can end up wasting time and money.

That is a great post, pretty inspiring, also! I believe that the concept of increasing your success by learning how to fail is humbling, yet highly necessary!

However, I would like to share positive experiences with Pay Per Click, because it might be a good avenue for start-ups instead of SEO.

I believe PPC is very effective depending on the target market and level of competition. If you are bidding on highly popular keywords such as "home business", you are bound to be wasting a lot of money on advertising.

As a small business owner helping people become consultants (www.leadingmethods.com) and start consulting businesses, I have had success with Pay Per Click campaigns attracting clients by maximizing the relevance of my ads and keywords, thereby increasing the Click Through Rates and reducing overall costs.

Overall, I find that CTR might be a good bet for a lot of start-ups if they are able to nail down a niche market and provide relevant content on their websites.
