Great advice!

We are just getting started on a less than bootstrap budget. Twitter, facebook and myspace are about all that we can afford (free is good!) and they are proving to be very effective at getting the ball rolling.

Thanks for sharing your tips on following, not just on twitter but in other ways.

Looking forward to reading more of your great blog posts and tweets!

Hey Heather,

Great article, especially the graphic...it's one of those, "I just get it." Why hasn't Tweetdeck come out with a web based app? I find this highly inconvenient because I'm not always at my computer. Hootsuite is Beta testing their new site which lets you create groups of up to 20 people...not too bad.

Thanks for the insight!

Nice piece Heather. Loved the line "This doesn’t give you much space to sell your story." In other words, reduce your elevator pitch to 140 characters or less. Good advice for the Twitter age!

Thanks.

heather - having taken your advice about twitter and reading and reviewing the mini-bios of some who i thought looked intersting; i wanted to pace myself. i didn't want to gobble up and subscribe to all the ones that looked interesting in one shot, but wanted to see for myself how it worked on twitter. i have read alot about managing your time; utilizing twitter for its potential and not becoming an actual "twit" writing about nonsense.

starting out with only six or eight followers myself, i selected two people/companies to follow who interested me the most, and who from their profile, had extensive lists of followers themselves. i surfed their posts; url's, etc., and probably within a week, i ended up with 22 followers and am posting tweets of real interests for my jewelry line (Road Rage) at: http://twitter.com/tallgirl3.

i had only one "follower" that i deleted (once i was able to ascertain what was actually showing in their avatar/pic!), even though they had their own "followers." that was kind of a first test for me personally, deciding on whether i would be losing potential customers by deleting that follower - trust me, i did not lose any sleep over that delete.

so thanks again for the insight. i will continue to put the instructions to good use.

...now, if i could just get the hang of re-tweets when you can't "dm" the twitterer.... thanks again heather - legsx3

Heather thanks for all the resources. Most of us don't know they exist. As soon as I have some extra time, I'm going to follow your prescription and use this information. You did the homework for all of us and we are grateful!

Thanks, Anna
