Have you checked these two things yet?

0 votes

It’s early Thursday morning, and I just remembered another “New Year” bit of information to share with you. If you haven’t checked these two things, you could be losing out on some great publicity and new customers:

1. What copy needs to be changed on your website?

Do you have old copyright dates and outdated content on your site? Take a moment to review all of your website pages and look for copy that needs to be updated right away. In the process, you’ll probably notice additional changes that need to be made.

It’s important to look “at home” to new site visitors and provide fresh, new content. Otherwise, they will go elsewhere for help.

2. How old is your media list?

Have you been sending your press information to the same media members for over a year? If so, check your media list.

With all of the economic changes, many reporters, editors and producers have moved on to work at different venues. If you are automatically sending news to old addresses, you are wasting time and money.

Instead of rushing into new projects this January, try to take a moment to look at where you are and where you are going. Correct mistakes and make the appropriate changes now so you can start 2009 off attracting the right customers and media attention.

Need help with the copy on your website? Send me a note here or at

    Terrific post Melanie,
I, too, think that your contacts, your visitors, your costumers and clients are way too important to neglect. If you have new and innovative ideas, if you have new goals and projects for the upcoming year, make sure to make time for your contacts, and if you don’t, hire someone to do it for you. it’s _that_ important
I also agree that keeping your content up-to-date is crucial in making sure both existing clients and new visitors stay interested in your site. Update a bit, build a new section, replace old pictures with new ones, of the business, the products and even the staff. Keep it ‘fresh’

It’s amazing that you cans tumble upon sites with old copy on them! Literally today I came across one with information dated 2007. Ghost town perhaps? At the very least, it makes both you and your business look unkempt. Get great tips about running a small business. YORE foundation
