Noise?-Monday Morning Memoir 11/24/08

Have you ever been frustrated by employee’s who love to spread rumors and create “noise”?  In a fast growth business where you learn things everyday you need to make changes quickly. 

The noise can really get in your way if you don’t get in front of it.  We have been trying to execute on this every week by giving people updates prior to the changes actual release.  It relieves tension and it permits people to plan for the next change. 

The trade off can be a week delay of the execution of the change but the benefits outweigh the cost.

    Yes, I’ve had the experience. I’ve found that if it doesn’t come from someone who is just negative, it comes from lack of understanding. When people have a huge gap between what is happening and what makes sense in their mind, they have to do something to bridge the gap. Giving people enough insight into the dilemmas and reasons to make them feel part of a team goes a long way.
