Email Marketing Holiday Checklist
In the last blog post, I discussed the importance of preparing your email marketing campaigns for the holiday season. Today I am going to share a checklist to ensure you have covered all the bases before sending out messages to your recipient lists.
- Review results from last year. What worked and didn’t work? Analyze results from the previous year and determine your successes. If you segmented your campaigns, was there a certain demographic that made an impact?
- Plan ahead and mark the calendar. Consumers have come to expect exceptional deals on Black Friday (day after thanksgiving) and online deals to follow soon after. Schedule your campaigns to guarantee your emails get out to consumers ahead of the pack.
- Set up Autoresponders. Holidays can be a busy season for both you and your customers. Make sure you have autoresponders set up in case you are too busy to produce new content or unable to respond to customers immediately.
- Include a call to action. Whether it is to view a special offer, enter a competition, or just to download a new brochure, encourage your audience to stay connected to your products or services.
I hope you have a great weekend. I will be back next week with more tips on email marketing.

Nice tips. Thanks for sharing. I’ve found that early November is a good time to really get things rolling. I’m amazed, though, that this is right around the corner!

Ryan,
Thanks for the tips, we are in the process of launching our new service to allow small businesses to take bookings online and we are looking for ideas on how to market to our customers using emails.
How would you recommend we collect email addresses and are their any tools you’d recommend for sending and tracking emails?

I’m not Ryan, but I have to say that I love my MailChimp. I use it to collect emails and send out a free monthly newsletter, but you can also use it for email marketing of all legitimate types.

must agree with Laurie — MailChimp is an awesome service. Gotta love a company that is not only efficient and easy to use but make it fun as well.
