Words of wisdom for entrepreneurs

"The more you do, the more you CAN do!"

We heard a mom say this to her 8-year-old boy as they hiked gingerly down a rocky trail on Camelback Mountain last week. It was a great mom-son moment.

The boy was listening intently, and we were eavesdropping JUST as intently!

Two things occured to us.

1. How TRUE!

2. What a great moment for that boy, and what a great mom.

The more you do, the more you can do.

What words of inspiration have you heard lately that propel you to new heights?

  1. Rob Says:

I have been told that when I do a good job, my customer will tell someone, but if I did a bad job, they would tell TEN people! Word-of- mouth is the cheapest, most effective advertising a small business can have.

    What makes a successful entrepeneur?

We all have ideas for products or services. Entrepeneurs
go to the next step - they act on it.

The key ingrediant is to act on the "right" idea. (Not all of our ideas have real potential - Research the potential market (who are the buyers? How do we reach them? How big is the marke?). look carefully for close competition.(did someone beat us to it?) Determine how and who will market the product or service. Then draft a rough business plan. Be honest with yourself on product cost, overhead and expenses. Be careful to protect your idea with a confidential disclosure document, signed by everyone you reveal your idea to.

If you do all this, and your idea is still viable (markup should be from 3 to five times cost of goods. - Go fot it.

But, be prepared to invest everything you have in this pursuit - your money, savings, borrowed funds and most of all your life!. A venture will own you for several years as you launch it..You will eat, sleep and dream your project every waking moment and some non waking
moments. And…as a post scrpit, stay away from slick talking "consultants" who promise to make you successful.

I believe the IDEA makes the money, and Im sure everyone knows that, but the Idea that makes the money provides jobs for those who want the business men/women to not make as much as they do, that I don’t understand.

    As Martin LeVan said:
You will eat, sleep and dream your project every waking moment and some non waking
    moments.
This is very true. You wouldn’t believe how much I’ve thought of the word ‘books’ since I first started my venture. Every day I spend awake I think about my business and how it can grow to new heights. The only thing to remember is to take each and every IDEA one at a time. you don’t want to spread yourself thin so stick to one thing and accomplish it.

Acting on the idea is the first step and one of the key components to a successful business launch. A solid business plan, persistence, and the can-do spirit integrated will help reach your goal. Building your business is a life long committment. If you’re not in it for the long haul, then don’t start down the road.

I’d also add keep the negative folks away from you. They are dream killers.
