Hey guys,

I need some help.   What I need is a website that would allow a customer to choose from different templates and choose  fonts, colors, etc and they can preview the project as they work on it.  Once finished they will receive a pdf of the finished project.   It would work on the same nature as a automatic website builder.  Not  sure where to start.  I have built websites before but not this complicated.  Can someone point me in the right direction or tell me how much I can expect to pay a designer to create such a website?

thanks,

Hey, I think that`s a brilliant idea!  Is there anything like it already out there?  I can see a service like this working well with Lulu or other print-on-demand sites.  Templates are great but it would be great if I could also upload my own artwork for a custom book jacket.

I don`t really have any specific suggestions about building your site.  I`m creating a web business and I`ve partnered with a programing whiz to help build the site because it is way beyond my skillset.  You might think about finding a partner which requires some time for networking.  As for paying someone to do it, I have no idea.

If you look at a site like Saturn, with their "build your own", they use a combination of flash, javascript and a programming language (in this case jsp) to get it done.
