Here’s the deal: I am appearing on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams on June 29 (most likely). They’re doing a cool feature about what happens if you lose or leave your job in this market and how to start a successfull business.
Don’t you love it! And kudos to NBC for focusing on this subject. As i mentioned to them in my taping for the feature, I truly believe that it will be small business and solopreneurs who help America dig out of this slump.
OPPORTUNITY: If you are one of those heroes who has left a job and started up a brick-and-mortar business in this economy, please email me at PR@startupnation.com.
Please add to the email subject line the following so I’ll know to treat it with urgency: “NBC Story - I Started a Brick-and-Mortar Business”
Deadline: Tuesday, June 23.
I will then share your email with the NBC Nightly News producer.

Rich,
You and everyone at StartupNation just keep amazing me with more intuitive ideas to help us be featured. What a wonderful opportunity for small business owners. I’ll be writing up my story now.
Will you be able to tell us who will be featured in the broadcast? Either way, I will be definitely setting my DVR to record this and look forward to seeing the interview.
Thanks again for everything,

Hi Rich,
Good luck with Brian. It sounds like a great opportunity! I just emailed you my story and would love to be considered. I have also pasted a link below to another TV show that may be of interest to Startup Nation members and I / my business am going to be featured on..
I was 1 of 20 out of more than 10,000 applicants to be chosen to be part of a new Mark Burnett reality show called Shark Tank, that is airing on ABC August 9th at 9PM. I am the epitome of a “putting it all on the line” entrepreneur. This show / opportunity might just be the big break us hungry entrepreneurs are looking for! If you’ve got a great idea, passion and have “DONE YOUR HOMEWORK” this is a great opportunity! The pilot airs on August 9th but they are now filming at least 6 more episodes for the fall season.
Here is the promo. I am the first entrepreneur that speaks (”this is the shot I’ve been praying for”) and am featured several times throughout.

Hey Rich, GREAT opportunity for those that fit this equation to share their story. Thanks on behalf of all of us at Startup Nation for reaching out!!
While we don’t quite fit the “brick and mortar” business as of this time, I’m happy to announce that our founder (my wife) has juat left her full time position on her own to continue to promote and grow our Gourmet Foods business. We would welcome the oppurtunity to share our story as well! We have a few months ahead of us now that will be “make or break” for us. Wish us well, and can’t wait to see the episode!!

Hi Rich,
First of all thank you so much for the Start Up Nation website and the opportunity to be featured for the NBC Nightly News project.
I got a call on Monday from Carol, a producer with NBC Nightly News. She interviewed me for about 30 minutes! It was totally awesome. Carol was very excited about my business and my story and said that I would get a call on Tuesday if they decided to move forward. She was saying how the deadline has been changing a lot, so I am guessing it’s changing again or they decided not to go with my story. Didn’t receive the call back.
It was still a great experience to talk with Carol about my business and all that I am learning from Start Up Nation.
Thank you again Rich, Start Up Nation is absolutely the best!
Yours for greater business success,
