I will like to start a blog but have little information on what it's about and how to get started...openn to any suggestions and advice

You can always get started by reading the most popular blog on blogging tips called Problogger. Some tips for you though. Before you start a blog, please make sure that you always have a plan for the content and marketing so that the blog grows and don't die off after a few weeks.

You can start out using Blogger or Wordpress. Check them both out.

However, if you have a website you can host your own blog. Wordpress is great for this. You can get hosting that automatically installs Wordpress for you.

Hey good to know you also want to start a blog. Take it positively and dont be panic blogging is really easy.

1. on what topic you want to start blog. it should be intresting for you so you can keep your blog update

2. Why you want to blog? to share your thougts, tips or idear or also want to make money

3. check out all free paltforms. Wordpress.com dont allow advertisment.

4. you want a free platform or want to host your own.

Remember take your popular blog posts promote them social bookmarking websites like Delicious, Digg, Reddit.

The most important thing you need to consider is the content.  Figure out what you are passionate about that you can write about it on a regular basis.  Once you have figured this out and have chosen your platform, do the rounds and advertise your blog.

Blog software like WordPress have enabled the blog from a few years ago to evolve into something much more. Stop thinking of blogs as something other than websites. Websites can be blogs and blogs are websites. They're exactly the same. It's just that blogs because of their software, have a few more cylinders under the hood.

I believe blogs are evolving websites as we know them and are in fact the very HEART of everything you do on the Internet to build a business. Here's a diagram to show what I mean.

Generally it seems you've had some very good advice here so far.  I would simply toss in my vote for using Wordpress as its simple and powerful.  Be careful though, there's Wordpress.org and Wordpress.com which is based on the same software but not the same.  Wordpress.org is probably the simple place to begin, but you get the full power and flexibility of the tool when you have your own hosting and use Wordpress.com.

Blogging is a great way to get started out online. I created a blog a few years ago and it actually helped me get noticed in the freelancing world and opened many doors for me. There are many great sites that help you get started out. Just start thinking up some ideas and plan it out. Even though it is a blog there is still some planning you should do, even if it is going to be a wing it kind of blog!
