So did anyone watch the youtube debate on CNN last night? I have to say I liked the format and it forced the canidates to answer questions that are actually relative to the people. I think this format is one that will stay, even most of the comentators liked it. So what what about the SUN community, what did everyone think?  I thought it was funny how each person commented on the quality of the video, they seemed to rate each of them, just like you were online, LOL.

I thought it was ridiculous and felt it belittled the candidates.  Some of the questions seemed more appropriate for high school debate.  A talking snowman??  What do you like about the person next to you??  gahhhg

Something about this makes me scared to even go look.

Nothing like a bunch of rich white guys trying to sound "hip".

the YouTube debates only gave an illusion of user generated content. The only difference from this and real debates was that instead of a moderator reading the question from a list, the moderator preselected a video that best matched the question on the list.

Just look at Chris Dodd`s answers....i.e. the gay marraige question...he said the same exact thing that he said in the last debate

Yes, I know the debate itself wasn’t the best, my main point is that how the internet has worked its way into debates, that’s monumental. Never before has a format been done like this, sure it needs to be cleaned up but man, it just blew me away thinking about 10 years ago there was barely an internet, and now we have youtube hosting a presidential debate.

I watched the debate and thought it was an excellent format.  While some people remember only the undignified questions, there were serious videos questions as well.  Case in point was the father who served in Vietnam.  He had three sons, one of whom had already served overseas.  He didn’t want his youngest son to have to go to war.  He asked the candidates point blank what they were going to do to get us out of Iraq.

This was also the first internet debate.  And, it probably generated more interest in the presidential elections than any other forum.
