Two thoughts -

With may viewers using laptops and screen resolutions of 1280px wide, I think your content area is too narrow.

I would eliminate the white/paper background. If you meant it to be like white sand.. I`m sure there is an image of sand you can use. Other wise white is fine to use.

Roland,

I put a 900px version up. tell me what you think? My only reservation for wide sites is the compatibility issue with those that are running 800x600 and smaller.

I`m looking at this at 1280 resolution on a 19" LCD panel. Okay, it doesn`t extend edge-to-edge, but that`s not always a bad thing.

A bigger problem is that I clicked on "Photos & Videos" to see the video you have, and the link doesn`t work. I liked that video.

I think 1280 is at the high end, personally I use 1024 and most sites "look" good. These are the website statistics over last couple of weeks. As you can see 1024 is most common.
