I have to say this is in contrast with my experience with Yahoo. I too reserved the domain through them, then used it to build the website (not visible yet), I’m using Yahoo Merchant Solutions and I have to say their help has always been excellent. On the technical side there could be a little improvement from what I gather from my web designer, but the restrictions there are mostly due to security issues since their servers house a tremendous amount of different configurations.

When you open the account it explicitly states that it will be renewed unless you inform them you want to cancel the account. Kathy I agree with you, cancelling the account should be an easy task, what you went through was entirely too convoluted. I wonder why you didn’t have access to the control panel... we’ve never had that issue, from the control panel all one needs to do is click ‘Cancel’.

I am glad that your experience was good with them. I am just stating what happen to me. The difference has to be whether you use them for a web site or not. I never had access to a control panel. My boyfriend has worked on computers for years and he was also stumped. It`s a vicious circle.
I agree that it does say that. I also read all there instructions and it all comes down to having that control panel. I feel you should have the right to renew or not. I didn`t plan on signing on for life. My year is up Oct 11th and I did not want to renew. I should be able to renew or not.
As I stated earlier I did send emails through their help section and received no reply.

I have to say this is in contrast with my experience with Yahoo.

I too use Yahoo for my website hosting. Although I have been slammed on SuN for my unprofessional website (so don`t write me and tell me you don`t like it - I`m not asking).

I just wanted to say that I have been pretty happy with Yahoo and as we all know, of course you get what you pay for.  I pay for the service I expect to get from them.

Sorry to hear that so many of you are having difficulties in this area.

I am currently a Yahoo site builder and it was VERY frustrating to get to certain areas of building but I finally did....www.ellaywestconcepts.com.

However, if anyone needs help with anything, let me know. I have almost thrown my computer and that type of anger only spawns a better understanding. I get it now.

But the control panel is a part of viscious cycle.

FYI: I never can get into my billing information to pay!!!!
