I have to use a P.O. Box and meet clients outside of my home.  My Mitchell-lama coop is adamant about no running businesses out of the home and I live with my elderly mother, so a P.O. Box and then a virtual office until I can pay rent on a real office are my only choices.  It does depend on the situation and if you are comfortable giving your home address and number, which I would not do, as I don`t want clients showing up at my home or calling me at home at any hour, anytime since I have Fibromyalgia.

Number one as mentioned by an other poster is security for your home and family!! There are tones of nuts out there. Anyone could pose as a customer and say "hey I saw the address on the web and thought I stop buy to see your products in person"

This is a Real Threat! Anyone could see that its a home address and phone number though Google!

And many people will let these "customers" in thinking only of making a sure sale.

I want to tell you a TRUE story for all those who list there home address!

My wife wanted to start a small business so I helped her with setting up a site she wanted a business that could be online and have a shop to go to and she wanted something with high markups. So I showed her a few options and she opted for Selling security equipment. Mostly CCTV camera for DIY. We also listed the items online. The small shop was located on a busy but secondary street. One afternoon I went to pick her up she asked me to watch the store while she picked up the dry cleaning a few doors down. While I was there 2 young men came in and asked for her by name saying they spoke to her the day before and wanted to look at some equipment.

So I started showing them what we had on hand and what we could order for them, 2 min later they said thanks and would get back with us. Then my wife came back and was ready to close for the day. Thats when I noticed my brand new iphone was missing. I had left it right on the counter for the taking! We checked the security types and sure enough one of the guys stole it while I was helping the other.

After telling my wife what had happened to say the least she was upset and so was I, I started thinking, they knew the equipment was expensive and knew the closing time from the phone call and saw my wife picture on the site! Wild things start running though ones mind at a time like that. What if she had been alone? Among other things, and remember this was a security shop with working cameras!

So please listen when I say DO NOT put your home address on your website! If you are a business women DO NOT Post you picture along with your home address and NEVER tell anyone its a new business so your there by yourself!

PLEASE LISTEN Use a Virtual Office or PO Box if you must, Virtual Office can forward calls to your house, Virtual Offices sometimes have conference rooms you can use if you need to meet with someone.

Definitely, I would consider having a virtual office if I had to save money on paying rents for office space. Actually, virtual office space is the best option for people who want to run their office from home.

I have a business that laws require a physical address be listed because Local Kids involves kids doing videos... also my daughter is frequently shown on these videos and I don't want a predator to put 2 and 2 together.

I use to spend $100 a month for a virtual address and get 2 hours of space per month plus could use the address.  Then I went to a PO Box while trying to figure things out... my answer was a several room small office w/training room that I would help other use as well.  I created the Business Space Coop in VA Beach and let others use the address for $30 a month, plus marketing on the Member board.  For $100 a month they get 16 hours of use plus the address.

It is a win-win for everyone.  I still work from home with Local Kids since I homeschool my 9 year old, but I now have an affordable business address and space I can use for meetings and trainings.

We actually have a virtual business.  All of our business is done through email and the web.  Virtual offices are becoming very popular.  You can save a lot of money.   I have a friend that owns a multi-million dollar business that does all of his business through a virtual office.

He does business in 345 different countries.  This is not a MLM business either.
