A Google search revealed savefinder.com, a company that provides worldwide personal shopping.  I have no idea what the fees are, but it might be worth a shot.

If that doesn`t work or if you want a more personal touch, send me a personal message and I`ll see if I can help.  I just love finding stuff for other people.

I am going to keep an eye on this company to see if I can either join them or start a company like theirs.

Wow, you sound just like me, I hate to go shopping because of that same reason.  I know what i want it just is to time consuming to find.  I have a daughter whos 21 shes been doing shopping for everyone for since she was 16, she loves it.  I never thought to have her do it for anything other than she LOVES to shop.  Shes a registered dental assistant so she cant afford to shop for herself all the time.  I dont think ive been shopping for anything in years

The basic problem of proxy shopping is the shopper doesn`t really know what the end-buyer really likes.

There`re many free grocery services, such as the former Webvan, the Peapod, and free services from Safeway, Albertson, etc...How many are using these free service providers?  Webvan went out of business because there weren`t enough users.  People seem to want to squeeze the tomatoes...

In 1990, before internet age, I offered free grocery shopping via dial-up, fax, and paper order form for brand name items at same prices as store prices.  Very few users then too.  It was too much ahead of its time, and against people`s habit, or maybe people thought it was too good to be true.

I rarely go to supermarket, my wife does 99% of the grocery shopping.  But she wouldn`t use free delivery either.  Fine, Safeway`s prices are not the lowest, but what about convenience?  My wife is certainly an exception, but most people still prefer shopping for themselves, it seems.

........"The basic problem of proxy shopping is the shopper doesn`t really know what the end-buyer really likes."

With the advent of web 2.0, this problem is fixed. It is now possible to use most digital devices to show your proxy shopper what you want. You can sketch it, stream it, show it. Your proxy shopper on finding the right goods can confer/confirm with you instantly. The color, the size, the feel of the silk on the skin, the fit to the rest of your wardrobe and so on.

Such technologies exist today and are getting to be house-hold essentials in our digital age. An example of such a company is mentioned below (yes! I am affiliaed with this company).

Right on Copperman!

A day or so ago, I sent a photo of two items that I purchased (and want to match) to cjpeeps. She is going to do a test search-and-locate mission.

The photographed items had manufacturers` names and style numbers on the tags (still attached), which should improve the odds of success in her search.

Let`s see how it turns out. The cool thing about this process (should one venture into it as a viable business) is that once the searcher identifies a certain niche of specialty items in which they want to become experts, that person will begin to accumulate a collection of reliable sources and, hopefully, build a relationship with those businesses. Of course, that will lead to speedier search-and-finds, greater success, and the reputation of this expert product searcher will spread quickly by word-of-mouth referrals.

I`m hoping cjpeeps will have positive findings to report here, and others will develop successful hunting techniques for other hard-to-locate items. If a group of people, with various specialties, gets together, they could create a company that offers this general service, with individuals who are designated experts in their fields.

(BTW, Copperman, I checked out your site, and it seems like a practical and relevant service. Very cool.)

You may wish to consider hiring a personal Virtual Assistant as they can help you with personal challenges as well as business ones.  They can be very valuable organizers for you.

We have a few clients that we organize not only their business calendar but also their personal one.  We will even do research for them or find a reputable plumber if they need one.

Typically they work on a retainer rate so you may hire them for as few as 5 hours per month to fill in any service needs you have.  Many time their hours by the minute (if you are lucky) or by 15 minute intervals so so you can get a real value for your buck!

Something to consider ;)

Hi guys,

I have to say cjpeeps is right on top of things.

She has been helping me with a little research project I`ve got going on as well. Outstanding young lady. And she doesn`t waste time.

So see, there is always a place for someone with the skills to research and shop online for others.

I used to be a personal shopper for my friends, I am also a clothing designer. I think you have something here. I was really good at finding items for my customers. Maybe it is something I would offer in the future.

This type of business has been in the back of my mind for a long time.  I just don`t know how to bring it to life - except for the two requests from wartimethings and OHDenise.

If anybody can help me really figure out how to make it work, I`m game!
