Now that Chrysler is on the bankruptcy path, will we ever see any of the $4 billion we gave them again?

I think bankruptcy is the right place for them and other automakers to be. It provides a mechanism for troubled companies to work out / restructure. BUT unfortunately, our government had to give the automakers billions of dollars rather than let them go into bankruptcy.

Of course, the government bail-out did not work... as I expected... and now that money is likely lost.

If the 4 billion were the question, they could meet that pretty easy.  Unfortunately, the deals seem to entail the government backing warranties, and union retirements.  Lots of people that were the first to fall in this economy wish their paycheck and retirment were protected.

I doubt whether any of the bureaucrats even understand what it would take to "back a warranty" 3 years after the plants making the parts had shut down!   Unfortunately, what they don`t know can hurt us.

I know the construction people, who were the first to lose their jobs, pensions, houses, lives would have appreciated "equal treatment".  But they didn`t build up enough political favors I don`t guess.  Maybe it only trickles from the bottom for a few!

The likelihood of getting even a penny of that money back is the same as the likelihood of getting a new Obama supreme court justice that is opposed to killing of unborn children.  Ain`t gonna happen.
