We were experiencing a problem with this but it should be all better now. It was a bug that showed itself over the weekend.

Wasn`t for sure where to place this post, so here it is. Has anyone here used SKYPE? An industry forum that I am on actually has a spot in the profile page to add a skype address. It works like a phone, FTP program, chat, and IM all in one program. I haven`t gotten into it yet, because I am in the process of upgrading my computers, but it looked pretty interesting and thought it might be something that would work in this community. Just thought I would check and see if anyone has done any checking on it.

 

Yes, I have been using Skype for only just a week now. I can`t believe how well it works with a simple USB headset. The clarity is amazing although it does take some tweaking to get it right. I was speaking with a business associate in India (12 hours ahead of me) and it was entirely free with internet access. You should definitely try it out.  

Very cool and definitely the future of telephone service. I can see the huge long distance bill melting away.

GoogleTalk also has a version of it`s own but you can only talk to other GoogleTalk people but still, very useful and inexpensive option. I`m sure we`ll be seeing internet answering machines soon. Why shouldn`t we?

I have been able to use Skype for calls to England, Canada, and Japan. I was amazed at how clear it is and that my landline is still coming in at $39.99 rather then a bill the size of a car payment.
