Isn`t it amazing just how easy it is to get the SuN "Negative Clique" to continue a thread ... with the "All About Me" type posts.

Folks, if you want to have ALL the foolish bickering back and forth to stop ... just Stop Posting  ... on the thread.

Or, since many of the people that are bickering back and forth are SuNbassadors ... just get the thread closed !!

If you are soooooo concerned about how SuN looks ... just stop bickering !!

Then you can have a typical Berkley style Love-Fest !!

I am really rather surprised ..... the amount of knowledge that people here have .... the idea of  "sharing ideas" and helping others .... do we really need to get into this type of stuff? Personal and professional attacks don`t accomplish anything here .... and I`m sure leaves a poor impression on those coming here looking for help and advice.

Although I do agree with your sentiment, I don`t agree that I should just blindly support another person. If what they are doing is promoting bad business practices here on SuN in order to gain clients, I do feel like I should point these out to whoever is reading. Do not agree that the number of bad apples in your industry hurts the industry as a whole? People have so much mistrust of web developers at this point, and with good reason ... most of my clients come with the baggage of getting screwed by another developer. So that is hard for me, and obviously something that is important. Do I think everyone who calls themselves a web designer should know how to properly hand code their own templates? Yes, I do. This used to be industry standard before people went straight to working for themselves instead of working at other companies for a while where such thing was a requirement. And if by talking about this practice, I can save me from having to tell one more person that I can`t add to their site, I`d have to redesign the whole thing because the backend code is so bad ... then great. I`ve saved some small business owner a few grand. And that is my concern, not worrying about if there are people in my industry who are insulted because they can`t hand-code and find my mentioning of the practice offensive.

First of all, I`m the only SunBassador in this thread. Just to make that clear.

Secondly, and to be honest ... a thread with high view count is good for a site that is supported on cost-per-impression basis.

Thirdly, I really do think some of this is important. I could have done without a few people in this thread, but there is some great information coming out of this thread ... ie what you can do with WordPress, why using prepackaged software is great but you still should fully customize it if you are using it for business, how to spot a potential problem when hiring  new developer, etc.

And now that this has all been said, yes, I think this thread will come to it`s own conclusion.

I don`t know where this whole conspiracy theory came from, like I`m sitting her plotting my own pro-me campaign. I`m thinking that my "girlfriends" are actually big boys that have been in business longer than I have ... and that certainly don`t take orders from the likes of me!

Nichole, the "poor little me ... I`m just a girl" act doesn`t work either.

There have been posts that you have shown more testosterone than Jeff Sloan. (But thats not saying much anyway.)

I have to really laugh at all the in-fighting amongst the SuN "Negativity Clique". Its fun watching ALL you self-destruct.

As Rush Limbaugh says, "When those around you are self-destructing ... GET OUT of the WAY !!"

Wait!... Flying under the radar huh..
1. Rush Limbaugh
2. Spads - Shopping Cart
3. Constant Attacts on Joel?
Hey wait! I know this person, HEY TJ how you been?
I thought you were banned from SUN... You know what the difference amongst all of us in here; is TJ?

We are not all going to agree with each other at times. Disputes are always going to arise, but it takes only one "person" [in this case cookiemonster] to blow things out of proportion.
I think this thread was fine without him putting his two cents in, but he did and this is the outcome.

BUT NO MATTER WHAT! We keep it between ourselves... None of us here attack RICH, JOEL, or JEFF.... BTW? Why are you mad at them? If I were the creator of SUN and you told me to my face, that I was using the forum for my own personal dating site, I would have banned you long time ago too... and thats what they did...

TJ, I think you need to go see a psychologist or take angry management classes. I think it`s time for you to whack the old pillow with a whiffle ball bat... you need to release some anger....

You should call RUSH LIMBAUGH, and tell him that "ANGER within you is a ticking time bomb, that leads to SELF-DESTRUCTION"

I`ve heard people reference WP as a great CMS. Well, yes and no. If you are simply looking for a platform to allow for creating new pages, then WP can do that job.

However, there are alot of businesses who need a site that is more dynamic and requires manipulation of web content. For example, here are a several common needs of some clients;

Client wants;
  1. to have a section on the sidebar where new events are updated. Client wants to have a page called new events and when they edit that page, the event will update automatically on the sidebar. Or any situation that requires the site to update automatically. Think Latest News or Latest Job openings.
  2. To have a backend that allows them to manage categories across links, images, audio files, as well as articles. There is where the CM in CMS comes from. They want to really manage loads and loads of content that comes in many forms.
  3. To have a more robust way of archiving hundreds of pages in a rather orderly fashion.
In this regards, WP can`t do everything. I believe WP can do the first if you know your php. I don`t believe the WP docs show how to do something that dynamic unless you know your php.

I know 2 and 3 isn`t doable.

Different strokes for different folks :)
