It`s 12:30am East Coast time early on a Wednesday. We`ve been having discussions about websites, brands, and all the stuff we all deal with as entrepreneurs. Nicole, who has an infant, is responding to my posts on logo development. AdvancePayDay and I are discussing his site.

IT`S 12:30 AM!!! No biggie for me; I`m a night person anyway. I hate waking up in any hour that has single digits.

The rest of the corporate I-hate-my-job-and-therefore-my life crowd is trying to sleep while secretly coming up with new ways to kill their boss and hide the body. They have to get up at 6am, fight traffic, and go somewhere they absolutely despise.

Meanwhile, all across America, we are doing what others just talk about. Tony Robbins says that `the road to Someday leads to the town of Nowhere`. Our someday is today, and though we may hate to admit our bank balances sometimes in the pursuit of our dreams, it is happening right before our eyes!

Cookies to beef jerky, intellectual property to web design, we love our lives and cannot imagine doing anything else. I think that`s amazing.

I have been a jerk on this forum for quite some time. I recognize that, and I sincerely apologize. This is a stressful gig. But I value your advice and opinions, and this community is incredible. I know the rest of you knew that all along, but I`m a slow learner.

Does that mean I`ll stop telling it like it is? Of course not. But I realized today just how valuable and vital this community is. Thank you for being a part of it.

I was just thinking this the other day ...
I had always been something of a writer, but it took CookieMonster`s repeat posts about copywriting to hammer through the need to EDIT myself too.
So, yet another thing I can thank SUN for.

Jeff,

That`s a hellava post, man! Now that`s the "Brand Jeff" I`m glad to see. We can all be jerks from time to time - I plead quilty for sure. But respectful we should all be - as you say, we`re doing something only a minority ever do. We`re in this together to help each other and give constructive criticism and have fun and generally share with other members.

Thanks for taking the time to post this heartfelt message.

Have a great tomorrow!

R@

Richard,

Thanks for the message. I`m no `love monkey` yet (or whatever that book was that Joel mentioned awhile back from the Yahoo guy), although I certainly can be in certain situations, if you know what I mean - (and no, I don`t think you`d look attractive in a dress, so don`t ask).

It really is a much easier road being nice. I still know the answer to the question, `honey, do I look fat in these jeans?`. Answer:  Of course not ! You couldn`t look fat in anything!  (not if I have any possible shot at getting lucky, you don`t... even though I might be thinking `Sweetie, you`d look fat from Google Earth...)

Jeff,

The term is "lovecat" but "love monkey" works

I value the SUN community as well.  I am just starting down this scary road, and it is SOOOO nice to be connected to people like me, and to see people who are at such different places with their businesses.  It`s good to hear from those who have "made it" and those who are still dreaming about this life, and those somewhere along the way.  The different perspectives are priceless/.  I get so much motivation from reading about everyone`s successes and struggles.

I appreciate your comments.  I guess I haven`t read enough of your posts to know if you`ve been a jerk or not    But, I do think it is important that when people ask for help, crticism, advice, etc. that we can all provide our thoughts, answers, etc. even if the answers aren`t always what the poster wants to read.  It`s hard to be brutally honest sometimes, especially in a community such as this, where everyone is cheering each other on.  This is a great place, and I`m glad I`ve joined.

I`m pretty new here - but I just want to throw my two cents worth in on this.

I can`t even fathom what it would be like to have to go to an office and work for someone else.  I`m the best boss I`ve ever had.

But the truth is that there are enough nattering nabobs of negativity in the world who pull us down and say thing like, "What kind of crazy business thing do you think you`re getting into now????"  Hey, we sure as heck don`t need that from our peers and the people we`re looking to for support and great ideas.

You don`t know me yet - but I`m known for being pretty straightforward.  So I understand the need to not waste words.  We`re all busy.  On the other hand it`s good to know that others appreciate the positive contributions we make.  (Not here - I`m brand new here.  But I`ve been on ryze for 3.5 years.)

Yours in success and joy,

keycon... When you "plead quilty" do you get a free pillow with that?  As you might have guessed, I am only teasing. But what an interesting place to make a typo.

BrandAlchemy... Nearly everyone I know, knows my character as being "rigid." I am not sure how I achieved this nickname except for the fact that I hate beating around the bush, and do state my mind. Through the years I have learned that people don`t really want to hear the truth about what I think. Even when they directly ask.

Therefore I have fallen back on that old rule about, if you can`t say something kind, don`t say anything at all. I don`t always use this rule when pointing out the errors of others (even myself) when asked for my opinion. Even on SuN, I have been known to type a harsh reply, and then, before sending, decide it isn`t worth sending. And delete the message.

When I think of my comments being negative or sarcastic, I likely give it more thought than anyone, as to whether or not to say it. Sometimes I still screw it up. But I do seem to be making progress.

It`s great to know someone else is having similar struggles to my own. I`m not as alone as I thought I was.

peace.

I too can be a bit short and blunt with those that can`t see what is so obvious to me.  Even when I`m not upset about things, some take my matter of fact tone to be one of disaproval when it is not (one of the reasons I like email for communicating with people).  When I become frustrated...  I laugh to myself and remember, half the population has an IQ below 100 and that`s only 21 points away from retarded.  It makes me a little more patient with others.

As entrepreneurs, we are not the norm, nor are we guaranteed financial success.  So.... enjoy the ride, win or lose, true success is found in the journey, for in the end it`s all we really have.
