OK, so I never really hated the iPod, but I`m practicing my attention-gettting marketing skills.

When iPods and other MP3 players first hit the market, I didn`t want anything to do with them. Sure, I listened to MP3s on my computer (using iTunes, no less) while I work, but when I would go for a run, I preferred my simple FM receiver, to be more in tune (pardon the pun) with the live world. I had the same reasoning when I was in my car, preferring the radio to CDs.

Even when I first started listening to an entrepreneurial podcast on iTunes, I still didn`t see the need for taking that on the road. But then I found a few more (StartupNation being the best one, of course) and suddenly I had to have an iPod. For just $79 I got a new iPod Shuffle (the size of a quarter) and now it`s with me all the time. I`ve only put music on it when I`ve had a flight and had no new SuN podcast to listen to. (Hey Joel, perhaps we need a daily podcast!)

And the best part of all was when I realized that I could plug it into my 15-year-old, cheapo cassette adapter and turn my car stereo into an MP3 player!

My iPod is and will continue to be an integral part of my business and entrepreneurial education. Since I still have a day job, I redeem my long commute by listening to podcasts, allowing me to be learning rather than being entertained.

Thanks Steve (Jobs)!

Hmm ... a daily podcast.

Who else wants a daily podcast?

Brian, you`re a Pittsburgh guy? I went to Grove City College. Still have a soft spot in my heart for primante brothers sandwiches & Iron City Beer.

(by the way, I have ipod earbuds hanging out of my ears as I`m typing this)

Based on the elevator pitch on a recent podcast, I knew you (Joel) would zero in on a subject that mentioned the iPod!

Yep, I live in Pittsburgh, and try to limit myself to two Primante`s sandwiches a year. For those that have had one before, they`ll know what we`re talking about.

My iPod is permanently plugged into the clock radio in my daughter`s room ... playing Jack Johnson songs on continual shuffle, because that`s what she listens to for naps and nighttime.

I have the original! The 5GB with the wheel. I still like it better than the new ones because of the wheel ... although it is bulky.

And you stop getting to listen to it when you have a baby because your ears always have to be alert for the sounds of mischief being made ...

I wish I could plug it in to my car, I would use it a lot more that way. I don`t have a tape player and I don`t have a AUX jack. I guess maybe they have those FM transmitter things? I end up listening to KCBS in the car (in the rare times in the car) and you`re right ... SUN podcasts would be more fun! (Although ... I`m sure KCBS is going to take a back seat to some toddler singalong CD soon enough.)

Do people who use the iPod turn into pod people? Are they still really them, or are they evil copies intent on taking over civilization?

Why was it that we no longer have a very popular show, what was it called... ohh yeah "who wants to be a millionaire?"

An old maxim that`s still true today: Always leave them wanting more. :-)

Just now thinking of getting an iPod.  I like listening to music, but don`t need it constantly and can`t concentrate well when listening.  Anyway, enough about me.

My main reason for buying would be to listen to pod casts - not that I even know where to find one, but I am sure I can.

Can`t say I`d listen to every pod cast produced, but might be interested in one every now and then.

cjpeeps,

Podcasts are easy to find, easy to subscribe to, and free. Just download iTunes from www.apple.com (it`s free). Once it`s up and running, click on "iTunes Store", and in there, click on "podcasts". You can look at various categories, or search for things. If you look for "Startup Nation", you`ll find the podcast for this web site. Hit "subscribe" and it`ll download it to your iTunes application and you can listen to it on your PC/Mac. And then if you get an iPod, it`s simple to "drag and drop" podcasts onto your iPod.
