I was listening to Joel`s community podcast with entreprenerd, and he mentioned how everyone Googles themselves. I admit it, I do it too.

So let`s start a pseudo-poll here:
What does Google say about you and your business? How many legit results do you come up with? (Put your search request in quotes to see more exact results.)

For "NHG Consulting" I get 1,980 results. I thought that was pretty funny for my lack of trying ...
My current name (first and last) gets 1,300 hits.
My full name (first middle last) gets 4 hits.
My maiden name gets 94. (That number used to be higher ... I think some of the old ones have updated to reflect the new name.)

It says about me ...
I am the owner of NHG Consulting.
I hold a BS in Animal Science from Cornell University.
I used to work with family dogs.
I made it to the front page of Feedburner once.
I`m a mompreneur.
I`m a member of the Cornell Entrepreneur Network, The San Francisco Bay Area Entrepreneur Meetup Group, and eWomen.
I have my own blog which has trackbacked to and been trackedbacked from many sources. Additionally, a lot of people pull my feed for their own sites.
I post on SUN a lot.
I have a couple of lenses on Squidoo.
I`m a BlogHer member.
I have a bunch of sites that we`ve done since Nov 06 (official launch) live now.
I have a love/hate relationship with Technorati.
A few people have bookmarked me on places like del.icio.us.
I have reviewed a lot of things on the internet ... anything from web hosts to baby bathtubs and a book called Clinical Behavioral Medicine For Small Animals.

So now it`s your turn - what does Google say about you??

Nikole,

Great topic. I Google myself (wow, that sounds a little dirty, huh?) quite often; my company also.

Same here with Startupnation, various associations I`m a member of, occasional quotes in papers, etc.

But my all-time favorite, and one which will certainly get some laughs here, is when I was a finalist in the Sexiest Geek Alive competition! They flew me to San Jose, put me up at the Fairmont (sweet), and the story was picked up around the world:

They even gave us sashes, like Miss America, and took us on a tour of Silicon Valley, with San Francisco media and CNN in tow. Shameless promotion, I know, but it was a blast.

My talent competition? Five minutes of `high-tech stand-up comedy`. Hey, it beat some people, who did their favorite Star Trek scene.

Now I can actually participate in those `ice-breaker` things: `tell us one thing that no one knows about you that`s unique`.

For the record, I think I won the regional competition due to low voter turnout.

I haven`t Googled my name in while.

First I get my website, CampSteve.com which is of course how I want it.
Then I get my page on rare-maps.com which is my biggest client for posters.  So far so good.

Then a link to my Colorado Bike Month poster for the Dept. of Transporation.
Then a post on Startup Nation!
Then the first of many links about my work on Hey Arnold for Nickelodeon.
Then my posters for York, Maine.

It keeps going with more posters and animation stuff.
There are a few links to customer testimonials posted on company websites, some blog comments and a few backlinks to CampSteve from other sites.

One of my favorite things is a some Hey Arnold trivia that Google frequently picks up on.  In one episode, the final shot pans over a cityscape and a water tower is prominent in the scene.  Here`s the phrase Google picks up on: The water tower at the end says "LOWTWATER".  Steve Lowtwait is a layout designer on the show.  If you don`t know, layout designers are the ones who design the backgrounds.  The thing is, I did not design that background.  Us artists were always putting each other`s names in the show.

The biggest surprise I got from the Google search is a link to Life is Purrfect, a cat-themed startup I am involved with.  Unfortunately the company has been stalled for a year or so.  It is nice to see it up there!

CampSteve:

A quote from your website:
` Browse for apparel, accessories, and gifts. Meow`.

I`m going to avoid the obvious `how gay does that sound` comments, but dude: if I tried to put `apparel` on my two cats, Aimee and Tiasyn, I`d be checking into the local ER. I just can`t see them wearing stuff, and since I would never get them declawed, I wouldn`t try.

Then again, I own two cats. Guess that sounds a little gay, huh?

Jeff, there is no cat clothing.  The apparel is for people.  I understand the wording there is a little misleading but it is not a finished site.  Like I said, it is a stalled business at this time.  We`re hoping to get it moving again soon.

Whew! That explains a lot. I found it hard to believe that my kitty would be ok with wearing a sweatshirt with a photo of a person. Thanks for clearing that up!

Well, Google doesn`t know much about me.  I`m a member of FastPitch, Fuzing, BlogHer.  A couple of testimonials I`ve written, a couple directories I`ve listed my business in.  There is so much more about me they don`t know yet!

I did find out that a cousin of my ex-husband won the lottery big in June of 2003.

There were 118,00 hits for my middle/last name (what I go by) and 27,700 hits for my full name (first, middle, last) --

NONE OF THEM WERE ME !

Then I tried my website YourSoothsayer and found myself to be #1.
Maybe I;ll try my nickname.
