My cell phone contract with Cingular expires mid December.  Before I renew I was thinking of looking around at other companies.   What is your experience with other providers, good and bad?  Which one(s) should I avoid and which one(s) do you recommend and why?

Thanks,
Hubert

Hi Hubert,

I really think it depends on what you are looking for. I personally do not spend a lot of time on the cell phone, so Virgin Mobile`s pay-as-you-go program works great. I signed up for the auto-renewal, which makes my monthly cost about $5.00. I`ve also had pretty good experience with their customer service.

Now, if you spend a lot of time on the phone, this probably isn`t the way to go. They have other plans, but I don`t know how they compare, because I`ve never bothered searching for a plan which lets me talk on the phone a lot.

Like Christina said, it depends so much on every individual requirements.  As alternatives,
check "helio"  I have been told that they are pretty good.  Also, if you are looking for something on the GSM circuit, you would have more flexibility on the instrument.  You could just pop out the GSM card and put it in another unlocked phone of your choice.

And yeah, the Iphone uses GSM ...  although it is a bit too heavy for me ....

I am with Cingular and I am never going back to cdma.

If you haven`t already signed up, I always reccomend Verizon. I switched to Verizon about 3 years ago and vow never to change. Previously I used Cingular (2nd worst customer service I have ever had to deal with and the cell service was horrible!) & Sprint.
