Cory,
Successfully acquiring capital for an early stage business is as much about how as it is where you look. Being prepared (what we call Capital Ready) when you approach a capital source plays an important role as does approaching the "right" sources.
If you want to discuss your specific situation, send me a PM of contact me directly.
I think you need to bootstrap and self-fund. You need traction to get external investors. However, I'm sure if you think about it hard enough you will find the means to do it. Good luck.
Funding is often the main obstacle that keeps an entrepreneur from realizing their dreams. I've spent the past few years helping fellow Preneuraholics (serial entrepreneurs) learn how to start their own business. Now I am changing gears and will be offering a new funding option for folks like Cory that have a great idea but lack funds.
Business loans for even a relatively small amount have always been difficult to obtain. Now it's nearly impossible. It's time to do something different. It's time to shake things up.
Preneuraholics.com will be launching this fall. Cory, if you're out there, stay tuned...there is still hope!
