Staceyy,

There are a number of sites where one can post their capital request. Some charge -some are free.

From my experience, the "professional" angel has a specific set of criteria. For most that includes the geographic location - typically within a couple hours driving time from their home base. This is even more significant for early stage situations.

So while your growth plan may be national or international in scope - your initial capital will most likely come from your local area. If you are truly Capital Ready - look for groups in your area where you can be visible and begin meeting the "right' people.

If you'd like to discuss your specific situation in confidence- feel free to drop me a PM or contact me directly.

We have a free angel listing database where you can search by state and stage of business - might help you get started.

You could also check with your chamber of commerce to see what resources they may have regarding angels.

Or, depending on how much you are looking to raise and how much revenue you have now, you might even be able to tap some profesional people right in your own community. Then as your business grows try to tap professional angel investors.

Hi Staceyy,

You may want to check out somewhere like:

http://angel.co/

Also consider joining somewhere like:

TBAN (Technology Business Alliance)

Other okay research places may include:

ncet.org

fundingpost.com

It is also sometimes worthwhile to check out your local SBA and Chamber of commerce to find business connections.

Crowdsourcing is a big trend now so you may want to consider that rout as well and I can provide some good crowdsourcing sites if you need those as well.  You also may want to look for incubator programs in your area or business contests.  A lot of it will depend on your product/idea and where you stand in the business life cycle.  Do a lot of research and try to make as many connections as you can and usually a lead or 2 will spring up where you least expect it.

Angel Capital Association Directory is a listing of angel groups throughout North America, this would be a good place to start.

Guys

Online resources are improving in terms of identifying potential angels but its still the case that 80% of angels invest within a 60 mile radius of where they live. So your best bet for traction with angels is to get out there and start meeting other business people in your industry - so meet ups, local chamber of commerce meetings (google it...), linked in personal network and not so much through twitter and facebook.  It would be nice if it could be as easy as going online to some site and searching but the angel community isn't there yet...

Any questions just ask,

Andrew
