Hi,

Here`s a question for the SEO/Ecommerce gurus...

If you start off with a static site, and you have some decent stats (webalizer or similar). What should the criteria be for jumping into the world of ecommerce.

Generally what kind of visit to sale conversion ratio should people look for?

Usually for eCommerce sites a 2% conversion ratio is pretty average.

So the formula would be

Number of visitors X Conversion Rate X Average Sales price = Revenue

I`ve seen the stats for quite a few ecommerce ventures, 2% seems a bit on the high side to me, are you sure that`s average?

I guess it depends on the industry of course...

If your definition of eCommerce is advertiser supported content then a 1-2% click through rate is the best you`ll get.

If you`re selling items then the click through rate will depend on factors like what you`re selling and pricing.
