The Sloan brothers have released ten short videos to discuss each step in starting a new business, being an entrepreneur. The first step is about building a "life plan."

At the same time, Nikole questions (on a different thread) the idea of building a business toward the day when you`re no longer working in that business.

In the first video, Jeff and Rich tell us that we should have an "ideal life" in mind. Don`t worry about how that will happen, or all the details, just write out a vision for what life would be like if it was perfect for you.

Okay...I want to do a couple of hours worth of writing each day, in a great little room that`s part of a nifty house tucked away near a lake in Wisconsin. When I`m done, I want to go down to the dock, grab the boat, and go fishing. If I`m not fishing, I want to barbeque a fine steak or something else. :-)

I`m only here for the food, after all. I like lakes, sailing, woods, and nice quiet places. But they have to be near to Shopping! LOL! Okay...not for shoes and clothes, for gadgets and toys!

If I removed myself from my business, I wouldn`t know what to do with me.
All I know is that the house wouldn`t be any cleaner!

I do what I love so I don`t want to not be a part of that. I actually like working.

When I don`t do this, I want to teach. Like go back and get my teaching credential ... maybe Ag Ed.

My ideal "Kick-back" life:

A nice home (in moderate seclusion) with a wrap-around porch for drinking coffee and reading "popular anything" outside on a nice rainy day.  And with a breezeway connected to a 3-bay workshop (filled with "can do" tools and stuff ) w/retractable roof (just in case I have to "crane something in/fly something out")

Inside: A study/sanctuary trimmed in hardwoods, plants, and electronics. With 2 computers, one for internet, and the other for publishing, graphics, writing (in my case " learning" how to write, etc.).

I almost forgot! The "ultimate kitchen" for cooking and entertaining friends and family.

Did I just describe 99.9% of all Men`s dream home/scenario?

No, most men don`t look for an ultimate kitchen. :-)

I`d rather be in Maine... Wisconsin is nice, and they have a lot of rustic areas, but being from, and growing up in Maine, it`s the perfect place to create your own secluded niche.. you can do the lakeside cabin, the beach front property, or even your own island!

But wherever you are, you definitely need the study, the library, the toys, and the grill!!
