Believe or not, there is a Jerky store there & it is good!  Good idea on the Yellow pages though.

Thanks,

Start a food delivery service to the hotels. Publish a brochure with the menu of local restaurant (3 or 4 ) favorites and prices (their price with your mark-up) and delivery fee. Place at all hotels and ask them to place in rooms. You can get discounts from the restaurants by using them and by putting them on your brochure...same with the hotels...and a with the printer.

Another idea, picnics on the beach. Different price categories...anywhere from cheese and fruit with cider to lobster and champagne. Skies the limit. Figure in basket or box. Delivery and set-up. Advertising and marketing. Anyway...hope these ideas help.

I would suggest you figure out how to take their picture. Think along the lines of theme park, like Disneyland. They take your photo when you first arrive and then try to sell it to you when you`re out the door. Is there an area where you could rent some space and put up a kiosk? If you`re along the ocean there must be some significant site that everyone wants to see. Good luck and let me know where it is so I can visit and you can take my picture!

I also live in a tourist area and recently lost my 8-5 job.  I have been giving a lot of thought to my own "boomer" business and feel this could be the right time to get going.  My area has many private properties that are rented per week/month/season and I am considering a service to provision the properties for the incoming tenants....such as food, gear, making reservations for tours, etc. and supplying information on the area.  Make it easy for them to come in and get their vacation started and give them information on where to go and what to do.

If there are significant landmarks, stories, historical people, interesting businesses, or mansions in the area, you can host a guided tour.

what about teaming up with a few local businesses and offer a welcome package to those new into town.  maybe expand this for offerings for repeat visitors as well? several successful companies are doing this for folks moving into new neighborhoods, but i don't see why this can't work for tourists as well.
