Hi, One of the most common sense thing you can do is evaluate what you are a good at. Then, look at how you can monetize that. Is there a hobby you have? Maybe you can monetize it. Do you have a passion? In my case, I also got laid off, so I wrote a book about something I cared about, which I am promoting now. That is giving me the experience to branch off into related niches.

This is the web Site www.ifgodistruth.com

I wish you luck.

Hi Jdos,

Hope everything is ok with you and your family. Yes, sometimes a layoff is just another form of opportunity to go out and discover other careers. Although looking for a job is indeed challenging, I believe that you are a talented individual. I agree with Alfons, you may want to asses your strength and capabilities. This way it'll be easier for you to list all the ideal jobs you may want to apply for.

Hope to hear from you soon J, God bless you and your family!

Several years ago my husband and I were commercial bankers and knew that we would be bankers forever.  Guess what?  Within two years both of our banks were merged into other banks and our jobs went away.  This caused us to become business owners.  That change was absolutely the best thing that could have happened to us.  Being an entrepenuer is tough but fun.

If there is anything that you love to do or would be willing to do, just go for it.  Turn that into your business.

We wish you the best and make sure to stay in touch with the StartupNation comminuty.

I have been there.  Hope you are doing well.  Keep your chin up.  Take advantage of any programs your state government offers.  Help with insurance and groceries are two of the most important things.  Try to cut your debts down and don't create any new debts.  Keep looking for jobs, but not the kind that will pay your nothing and tie up your time to keep you for looking for the jobs you want.  Sometimes you can find things that will help you make money online while you are looking.

Best of Luck,

Kelly
