I love sports.  I am a coach at heart.  I would like to start my own business.  I looking for brainstorming ideas on where I might be able to take this.  I know its broad but I am good at coaching and I know the game of basketball very well.  Does anyone see a business opportunity here?

Thanks!

What about starting a basketball camp?  You could specialize as a Big Man camp for developing centers.

Some ideas I have are:

- Basketball (or all-sport) training center for youth through high school

- Basketball summer/school break camp

- Basketball official (referee)

- Sports bar with a basketball theme

- Sports writer covering basketball

- Betting analyst (legal where sports books are legal, I believe)

- Scout or agent

- Personal coaching (use those coaching skills in a non-sports environment)

- Sporting goods store

I am sure there are many, many more.

Good Luck!

Starting a business in the sports industry can be really hard. I myself would begin a coaching program for youth and adults in your local community. You could do it like an after school program that parents pay into to help keep their kids amused between school and dinner time. You could not only help keep kids out of trouble, but make some great improvements in their lives. Keeping kids occupied after school can be hard, but basketball is always a winner in their world! Making it a winner in the parents world too.
