What to do with an on-line store that wont "die"?

We`ve closed the front page of GoTruckStop.com ... by putting up an "Under Costruction" page.

I have a design team trying to change the data base so my images will be "un-locked" ... not held hostage by another web server. (I really don`t want to get into all that.) But currently all our "thumbnails" are unavailable.

Our customers are coming into the site via the back door, available links, and bookmarks.

And yet, our sales have continued to increase over the past 4 weeks.

And I`ll be leaving for Afghanistan in approx 6 weeks.

Whats one to do?

TJG, thats a gonna be tricky.. Here is why.. There is a way to shut your Web Site completely but... It won`t work because you are probably running a MSQL, or MySQL Database... and you need it to access the DB.. Now what you can do is make an image (back up of the database) and if you already migrated to another server... then point the domain name to my servers..

ns.nuevohost.com
ns2.nuevohost.com
and this will send your customers to a blank 404 error page. Or go to your domain name and don`t put name servers in ... you know the part with ns1 and ns2. This will shut your domain down... another thing you can do is put a parking page. Again into your domain name and request a parked page. If you`d like I can help you..
Just hollar...

Edgar, thanks. But I think you missed my point.

Think again as to what I`m really saying.

He missed the subtle "James Brown effect" of your post. "I can`t do no mo...  I can`t do no mo..."  *crowd cheers appropriately* "No, no mo... " *crowd cheers more*... "Oh, all right! One mo song... "

Good job, Truck Stopper. Some day, I`ll have a zombie site filling my pockets with beer money.  : )

Well, thanks to a great design team, the "locked" image issue is solved.

In fact I was thinking ... after spending a year or so in Afghanistan ... why not decide to live in Thailand ... along the beach? Thats the beauty of this "Internet thing" ... you can run your on-line business from anywhere in the world.

And in Thailand ... $1000 / month and you live like a king!!

TJG

Having customers visit your site despite your best efforts to make them stop is the opposite of my problem!

I wish you success, safety, and sincerely thank you for your service.
