I thought about this and I want to clarify some things:

I used Plesk early in my internet marketing career.  It was the only control
panel offered by my hosting service and even though I read the manual
I could make neither heads nor tail of it... I just found it baffling.

I don`t consider myself a computer expert by any means. I`m predominantly
interested in doing interesting marketing, not being a technology guy.

About a year ago I invested in a very advanced E-Commerce script and
found that it would be impossible to install it in my Plesk shared server
without modifying Apache Signaure files (or something like that) - which
my hosting service refused to do.

As a result I was forced to migrate my site to another host and I chose one
that had known friendliness to the script I was installing - Fantasos -
CPanel was included on my new host and while I must admit I dreaded
learning a new control panel (consider how baffled I was by Plesk), CPanel
was a revelation... intuitive, clearly laid-out, and it has features in it I had
never though about using before.

If, like me, you want to understand how to administer your own websites
then I recommend CPanel to start with - I know if I had started with CPanel
I would have saved a lot of time and hair-pulling.

If you plan to pay somebody to do it for you  I think you should go with
whatever that person prefers...

And if you are setting up a site to run a particular script I recommend you just
use a hosting service and Control Panel that is recommended by the publisher.

Loren,
The C-panel Addition is Called "Fantastico"... It is used for uploading and extracting files on the server (SSH)..
I should have said this earlier... C-panel works good for someone like you that doesn`t care about the Tech side other than your marketing. PLESK is more for an advanced user, and I understand when you were trying to upload and uncompress a gzip.tar file.
C-panel with Fantastico is good for that..
Also, if you host with a company that has you on a shared server, then you are most-likely on someone`s resellers control panel. I give SSH support, but only if the source code is from a credible site. You have to understand that using SSH to upload something can be dangerous (viruses)

Fantasos is a commercial   affiliate/membership site script,
that could not be effectively installed on the Plesk server I was using at the time.
After a number of communications with the hosting company it became
clear that my best option was to abandon that host and move to a
host that was proven with the particular things I wanted to do.

Fanatsos is not the same as Fantastico.  Sorry I did not make that clear.

If you are curious you can check out Fantasos here.

Fantastico is a cool feature of C-panel, though as I recalled my Plesk
system had a similar script library I never used.

Even though I administer my own domains I don`t necesarilly recommend
that marketers do so unless they have a particular interest in understanding
the way these things work, as I do... and in troubleshooting problems
as they arise.

That being said I find that among beginning internet marketers a lack of basic
understanding of how these things work is a real hindrance that inhibits
every aspect of growth as an online marketer.

I find Cpanel more intuitive... but I understand your preference as an administrator
for Plesk - and if your clients aren`t hands-on guys like me its probably
just fine to not offer Cpanel.  For me though the unavailability of Cpanel
would be a dealbreaker.

Godady and HostGator are the hosting server provider. For having website online you need to follow three steps which are hosting, design and development. Many web professionals like us give all services without making you worry about intermediate process. Or you can buy hosting and domain and they can hire professional for design and development.

I use Hostmonster for my hosting. I really like the Cpanel. I started out building my sites using wordpress blogs but have since moved on to building them myself using standard html paired with php.

I believe it would be useful to have a website. Our purpose would not to sell a product but rather to present our talents to a public audience.
