My fiance and I have created a piece of safety equipment that is to be worn. It is a fairly simple and straightforward item and I have never seen anything like it before. I am wondering what type of patent we should get for this... I know it`s vague, but for the sake of visualization, let`s pretend that it`s something you wear on your head to protect you from certain types of potential danger, but it is something that, to the best of my knowledge (and without having done a patent search) does not yet exist.

Any suggestions?

speak with patent counsel, and expect to pay for his/her advice.
