Are you a social Entrepreneur?

I live in Colorado and I am original from Wisconsin.  Pine, Western, and other Beetles have killed millions of acres of trees in forest all throughout country in the past years.  These beetles are similar to termites…they just eat their way through entire trees and kill them!

Driving through Vail, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Beaver Creek and Aspen ski resorts in Colorado it only takes a quick glance outside your window to see half of a forest gone!  It is really a sad sight to see.

But with every problem there is a solution…Right?

There are literally hundreds of millions of trees dead throughout the United States because of this epidemic.  I wanted Entrepreneurs opinions on what types of businesses can be started because of this extreme problem.

What would an Entrepreneur need to buy? How much would it cost?  How quickly could it be set up?  What type of business do they need to register / incorporate since they will be working with the state/federal governments?

Is there a great business to be built because of this problem?

I am no expert on this subject, believe me; but I do know where I live at you are not allowed to remove dead trees from government property, ie: Army Corp lines, state parks, etc.

Regardless of the laws associated with Gov`t properties, the government routinely sub-contracts all sorts of work. IF there`s an interest in removing the trees, they could contract with a removal service. More likely, though, they`ll be going "natural," what with all this Green movement stuff happening.

In that case, they`ll let the trees fall over, burn, or rot. It`s the natural way, after all.

What might make more sense would be to look at it from the private property owner`s perspective. It isn`t only forests being plagued by the beetles, it`s also homeowners and farmers.

The key here, I think, is going to be not the tree removal...but what you`ll do with the trees after they`ve been taken down. I`d look at end products, perhaps firewood or maybe sawdust or woodchips. Maybe even particle board or these wood pellets used in cast-iron stoves.

Then you could sel the recycling concept not only the "cutting down trees" idea.
